Came here during UW-Madison Family weekend to visit our daughter. It came highly recommended. We all loved it. The burgers were great and loved reading about the history!

Ranch is $2 for a 1 oz cup.

My wife & I stopped for lunch @ Dotty Dumpling's Dowry after parking across N. Frances Street at the Southeast Campus Ramp. We arrived early enough to counter the TA member-reported service delays prior to attending the afternoon UW women's hockey game, and we managed to beat the Saturday lunch crowd to a high table across from the bar. The interior spaces are small, and the electric lighting is muted, but the restaurant's front windows offered enough sunlight that day to brighten most of the dining & drinking areas. We were served by a friendly pair of college-aged young ladies (one experienced, one in training), and they were as attentive as their workload & the kitchen output could support. I ordered a Bison Burger, my wife had a Greek Salad with chicken breast, and we shared an order of Sweet Potato Fries. All items were delayed, but they were hot & good when served. Based on our overall experience - and with accommodations for scheduling - we would return to Dotty Dumpling's the next time we visit the Madison area.

Food here is good, and the service was very good too. However, I gave 1 star for the atmosphere because, while we were having dinner, all the TVs were showing a very racist movie. I was shocked that a restaurant so close to campus, with many students from diverse backgrounds, would air such a film. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I probably won’t return because of this.
DO NOT eat here if you plan on attending an event at the university. You will be late or miss it. Or I guess you could double the time they tell you. Several of the staff are rude, particularly the hostesses. The menu is pretty tired and greasy. I’m done with them.

Mediocre food. The staff was not knowledgeable about the food when asked questions. We asked if the apps were fresh and while the pickle chips are the rest are prefrozen. Malt was not a Malt. We were disappointed.

Every time I eat here before a Kohl Center event we are late for the event because they mislead you with the wait time. Then when you finally get a table it takes forever for the food to come. Hostesses are quite rude and immature. No organization or common sense. Most food items are greasy food. Same menu forever. Maybe try them when you have more time…like a lot of time.
