Food wasn't bad, just different from what I am used to. I would go back if someone asked me, but probably not on my own.

We love El Imperio!! The food is delicious and authentic. Their classic tacos, burritos, and chimichangas are fantastic! But they also have seafood specialties, which is rare to find. We love the ceviche!! The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Great neighborhood spot ❤️

Absolutely amazing place. Highly recommend the shrimp or the mushroom quesadillas. Everything I've had here has been amazing, and I am blessed that they chose a spot within walking distance.

Ordered a $22 dollar michelada thinking it was going to be good, first they forgot to add the shrimp, I had to ask the waitress and she brought me 3 small shrimps, then she said they didn’t have scallops and when I tried it, it had no flavor! It tasted like plain beer with chili powder that’s it.
Then we ordered a molcajete with a fried cactus, shrimp, steak, chicken, sausage. Well when we got it, it had no cactus so I had to ask the waitress again and she went and asked the cook, she came back and said they didn’t have any, she offered more beans??? Oh and there were barely and steak and chicken.
She didn’t offer a discount after all the trouble. They over priced the flavorless michelada at $22!! Very poor service. Last time I’ll go to this restaurant.

We love this little neighborhood restaurant, it's got such a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty food! Definitely awesome to have such a great restaurant in walking distance, a rarity over here in the burbs. We loooove the paintings done by some of the staffs extremely talented cousin as well.

Have both eaten here and gotten take out. Food is subpar. Got the cheese dip takeout and it was basically luke warm milk.

My wife and I shared a Carnita Fajita (tender braised pork served with a side of rice. Refried beans, grilled jalapenos, Pico de Gallo and tortillas) for dinner a few nights ago. The food was delicious (best pork I've ever eaten) and friendly/prompt service.

This is our new "go to place" for Mexican in the Madison area. We will definitely return!

The restaurant only has one staff who has bluehair and unfortunately he didn’t care about business.
We waited 5 minutes at the door, and he did nothing but stay in the kitchen and occasionally look at but did nothing.

Avoid this landmine, you are welcome.

Three of us ate here on a Thursday evening. The Imperio salad had lots of goodies, but not much flavor; I recommend adding a dressing. Burrito special with chorizo was outstanding! I don’t know if it was the same recipe as the item listed on their menu…I hope so as we’ll surely order it again.
