Came back to Madison and looked for the old Ovens of Britanny. This is a worthy successor!

An absolute delight! The pain noir are one of my favorite pastries in this town, and it's a gift every time they're available!
But if you go in and they're not there, everything else is absolutely outstanding. 😊🌈
Low on cash? No problem! Grab some of their day old bakery items, toss them in the toaster oven for a minute, and they are still an exceptional joy. Kind staff, lovely space, highly recommend!

Fresh, delicious and new to me flavors. Thank you for opening my world to your baked goods!
I've been getting delicious baked goods from Far Breton for several years, mostly from their cart at the farmer's market. Today we received the worst pain au chocolat ever. There was zero flakiness, having the consistency of a dinner roll. If we could have gotten a glimpse of it before the sale, we would have passed. It didn't even look right. Very disappointing, especially for the price. Hope they turn things around.

Drove from Minneapolis to Madison for the LunArt Music Festival last Saturday. Sunday on my back back for 2nd concert at WYSO, I stopped in at Far Breton for coffee & yum. Sitting outside, another couple, who can believe they were at the same concert. Nice spot.
They open at 8am, not 7am. Change the timing so your customers know.

We pick up a butter croissant at the their food truck on the Northside farmers market. Got home it was a burnt. Not golden like we enjoy but BURNT!!
People of Madison, if you let this bakery die, I will never forgive you. That kouign amann? It makes diabetes worth it. Those galettes? That's why the sun rises and the clouds part. Sure, the place is a little out of the way and the coffee is clearly an afterthought, but those baked goods make life worth living.
Saturday 4/19/25 I purchased 2 pan au chocolate and 2 almond croissants. The bakery is warm and inviting, with full cases of product. The staff person was warm and friendly.
The baked goods were so disappointing! The pan au chocolate were not flaky at all. They were literally little buns with a small amount of chocolate. The almond croissants were marginally better, but still lacked in flamingos and could have used some more almond paste.
I drive an 1hr and 30mins for the Kouign-amann. If you haven’t tried one it’s a must :) love the softness and the crunchy chewy top.
