Before owners got the expansion bug: really great — simple and did very well with what they do.
After the owners got the expansion bug (now) — feels a bit corporate. Saw employees visibly frustrated with management and noticed a decline the quality of the product.
Always — the place is unique and feels very local (location). The menu is simple (good) and has some unique elements.
Super delicious, quick spot to grab a healthy meal. I was at a meeting on campus (Pyle Center, v close) and came here for lunch every day.
Love the automatic offer to have dressing on the side and also free bread :)
Friendly staff and the cashew bowl + add tofu was my go to. I also had the power bowl + add chicken. Yum I’m getting hungry.
Clean, quiet, and delicious aromas! Looking for a healthy option? Forage Kitchen should be pinned for your next place to enjoy.
As a UW student, I come here at least twice a week during the school year. Today, I brought two visitors and there was a bug in one of their salads. When we showed the staff, they told us they could not see it and would only remake the bowl. After asking another staff member we got a refund. We understand that this stuff happens with fresh greens, but the staff was not apologetic or sympathetic in the matter.
On a street that seemingly has every salad/bowl place in existence, we randomly chose Forage for lunch. It wasn’t outstanding, but it was pretty good. The basic make your own bowl allows you to get greens, grains, beans and veggies for a low price if you choose within their rules.
We are reapear customers and normally enjoy the food.. My husband ordered a Make your Own with lentil meatballs. The lentil meatballs were burned and almost impossible to chew. I hope this was just a bad night.
Everything about this venture was good, except for the fact that the option to order pickup via DoorDash did not work from this location. It did show up correctly for their other location on State Street.
I would have given it five stars if I could have placed my order using the original method. I was ready to order and save 30%, but instead, I ended up ordering the old-fashioned way.
Forage Kitchen is consistently the best lunch option on state street. The manager and staff are so friendly, the food is always fresh and filling, and everything tastes WAY better than corporate sweet green across the street. Always happy to support this wonderful small business!
I love forage and have eaten here for years. I went yesterday and found a long hair in my bowl. Definitely not my color! I debated posting a picture but figured you guys didn’t need the visual.
I can live with “good but expensive”, I can’t live with “expensive and has foreign hair”.
I normally get takeout. My favorite is the Local Roots dish with added Tempe. I hear the Tempe is sourced locally from Bandung Restaurant.

We where happy to find a restaurant that finally had very healthy food options.
I didn't dawn on us until our third visit to asked what ingredients they were using.
Everything thing was good until we were told they used see oils, we had to walk away and haven't been back since.
