Please judge for yourself, but this was not a good experience. My wife and I had Overture tickets, so we had plenty of time with an early arrival for a 5:45 reservation. The bar looked great, and we got seated at a very picturesque corner two-top with great window views. Things were moving a little slow, but no big deal. Ten minutes in, we had not even ordered drinks yet. We just expected a bit more attention at a top restaurant. We had plenty of time to view the menu. When the waiter finally did arrive, we ordered drinks, an appetizer, and dinner. The waiter said he would pace everything on delivery. He could tell that I was a bit unsure about ordering all at once, but he did seem busy. We ordered steak tartare. It was probably at the bottom rung of this dish that I have had at other places. It just seemed like it had sat in the fridge a few days and was not fresh, even with some “gray” areas. The worst part is that the appetizer came out way before the drinks. We waited until the drinks came. I had a martini that was quite good. My wife had a decent glass of Bordeaux. I did expect a higher level restaurant to even get food deliveries in the correct order. Even the bread came late, which the waiter promised before taking orders. It was fresh bread and butter, but pretty unremarkable, at least in our opinion. Delivery after the appetizer was also poor form. I ordered the bone-in ribeye medium rare to medium. My wife ordered the filet mignon medium. I got a burnt piece of shoe-leather with gristle and my wife got a burnt, stringy filet. I don’t know if it was just bad meat or totally inept cooking, but it was the lowest quality I have ever tasted. When the plates were delivered, I had hoped to order a glass of wine, but our waiter was again not to be found. I went to the hostess and asked for the manager. I just gave the food back and picked up a pie at TeddyWedgers for 6 bucks that was better than the $82 steak. I gave the waiter a $20 because I felt bad. The inept cooking was not his fault. The manager gave me a card, so I sent him an email. We will see. They did wave the cost, but I found the food to be disgusting and the service poor. There was no attention to detail, and they only wanted to flip tables quickly to maximize their profits. The quality of food was very low, and the tartare was not fresh or was leftover too long. Yuck! Foodfight wants to make money and they are cutting a lot of corners in my experience. I hope if you read this, you will have better luck than I did on a Saturday night with reservations two months in advance!

This restaurant always has consistently good service, attentive, but not hovering. Vibe is also quite good. Ask for a window seat if you want a more quiet experience.

Steaks were good as was the sea bass. My medium rare filet was not quite rare enough so if that is important emphasize it.

Vegetables were good, but the brocollini was over done and had way too much olive oil/flavoring on it.

Overall good experience Will return.

The service was top notch: unobtrusive, well paced, smooth. In a word, professional. The food was equally top notch. We went with both the beef and tuna tatare among the appetizers. Perfect! The four of us each ordered different steaks. All arrived cooked to perfect doneness and were outstanding! Well played, all.

We had a wonderful dinner at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse! They started us off with fresh, warm bread (of a bit plain) that was absolutely delicious. For an appetizer, we shared the mac and cheese; rich, creamy, and comforting. I ordered a glass of wine that I loved (Orin Swift) and my partner had the old fashioned. While he enjoyed it, it wasn’t quite a traditional old fashioned; it reminded him a bit of soda; but still good overall.

For our entrées, my partner ordered the 14 oz dry-aged New York strip with no enhancements and loved it. The char crust and tenderness were perfect. I ordered the filet with truffle butter, and it was amazing; the char added just the right touch. The garlic potatoes were wonderful with a beautiful ribbon look, though we wished they had a bit more garlic flavor and maybe a sprinkle of green onions or chives to finish them off.

The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and I especially loved the bookshelves; it added such charm. The only thing that took away from that cozy vibe was the TV at the bar, which felt a little out of place for such an elegant setting. Otherwise, the service was excellent—very attentive—and they even bag up your leftovers for you. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with amazing steaks, warm ambiance, and thoughtful service.

The food was amazing. The service even better. The price is a bit higher than other steakhouses but I feel it was worth it. The bad part is DO NOT tell them it is a special occasion!!! They will bring out cake and everyone will be surprised. SURPRISE!! They charge you for it.

My wife and I had the best dining experience. Our waiter made us feel special, the food was so good and we were seated with a perfect spot looking out at downtown fall evening. Such a wonderful night out.

We were visiting Madison from Canada to see our daughter for her birthday...it was our first time at Johnny Delmonico's Steakhouse...it certainly won't be our last. The decor, service, ambience, and food were all absolutely great. The staff were able to assist us with a special request for our daughter as well.
Thanks for having us...we'll be back for sure!

We made reservations to celebrate a very special milestone for my husband, and wow — this restaurant went above and beyond in every possible way! From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed and celebrated. We were seated at a stunning table with a beautiful view, and Taylor was an absolute star of a server — warm, attentive, and so thoughtful.

The food and drinks were phenomenal, but what truly blew us away was a surprise we never saw coming: our entire meal was generously taken care of. It was such an unexpected act of kindness that it brought us to tears. 💛

Gaston and Taylor, thank you for creating an unforgettable evening that meant the world to us. We will be talking about this night for a long, long time. If you’re looking for a place that delivers not just incredible dining but true hospitality from the heart — this is it!

Drinks and food were slow
Our waitress was awesome.
Stuffed mushrooms not good. Risotto not good. Sea bass was amazing. Ordered two different bottles of wine and both times, didnt have what we asked for. So, mixed reviews, honestly.

We celebrated my grandson's 21st birthday at Johnny Delmonico's, and it was wonderful. Everything about the evening was perfect, from the greeting from Gaston Solis, the GM, who was welcoming and set a celebratory tone. While the staff at the restaurant is consistently friendly and helpful, Ryan, our server for the evening, was amazing. His people skills are impressive. He made my grandson feel special and helped us enjoy celebrating and dining. The food was creatively prepared and delicious. A few dishes we highly recommend are the Smoked Beet Tartare, the Filet Mignon, Lobster Mac & Cheese, and Grilled Cauliflower Steak.

The Barrel Aged Manhattan was a favorite. The decor is attractive, and the playlist impressively curated and enjoyable (Kudos to Eliza!).

We highly recommend Johnny Delmonico's Steakhouse for a wonderful dining experience and as the perfect place to create special memories.
