Wish I could give negative stars. Ginger chicken was 50% bones and bone shards. Almost chipped a tooth multiple times. It was terribly prepared overall. After picking out what I could, I threw the rest away. Never eating here again.(Original review was in 2019, its possible the place have improved but I'm still not eating there again)

Fantastic experience at Koi Sushi. It was our first time. The best scallop sushi I have had in my life. Also the sweetest shrimp sushi I have ever had. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Quick service. Truly an oasis in Madison. I cannot recommend this place enough. Halfway through your evening here you will already be planning your next visit. Date night. Celebration. Love Japanese food to the moon and back!!

Price is right for the amount of food, place was empty. Perhaps because it was a holiday. (Presidents day) food was good.

The employees were very kind and friendly; they genuinely made my day. I got a really delicious smoothie with fresh fruit and bubbles from here.

Ordered ginger chicken was great first time, second time chicken had broken bones and was insanely spicy, very inconsistent. Just tried chicken hibachi, salad was gross and chicken was bland. Sushi rice was bland and was not even given soy sauce packets..

This is one of the very worst Chinese restaurants I've ever been to. In fact, my husband and I felt sick after eating there. The only thing "Japanese" about this place is the name. It is entirely Chinese, and not in a good way. I ordered tempura, which was brought to the table with no tempura dipping sauce. We had to bring this to the attention of the blank-faced waitress, who took quite a while to finally bring a bowl to the table; it was soy sauce. My husband ordered teriyaki salmon. Now, I don't know how any restaurant can mess up salmon, but this one certainly succeeded. What an insult to the salmon. We will never, ever come anywhere near this place again. And I was shocked when I saw that it had a three-star rating. Difficult to believe considering the uninspiring food and service.

Firstly... came in and waited 10 in an empty room to get seated. Secondly... went to order 2 Thai teas, only got one. Then, we sit and order a regularly sized meal in again... an empty restaurant. 30 minutes pass, wondering what's happening and continue to wait patiently, another thirty minutes passes. Then the original waitress gave us our FULL bill, and asked if she forgot our sushi, went and made it. Then brought it out. And she left, My partner and I both go up and ask why we haven't gotten our meals, and after much confusion. We finally get a bill with the adjusted amount for 1 Thai tea, and one order of sushi. After waiting for two hours in a completely empty building aside from staff. No one should've paid for that service, so we went down to the street and went to a decent Chinese restaurant and ordered some good food. Waited for two hours for literally no food. Ridiculous.

Ordered take out from here, and we got it pretty quick! Great! Unfortunately, that came with a few side effects we didn't see until we got home. My order was missing a dish (luckily I wasn't charged for it!) and by friend had ordered Veg. gyoza and was given meat gyoza. They also refused a refund for him unless we returned to the restaurant to get it (even though he paid card) or to speak with a manager. Other than that, the staff were friendly!

They have quality food with great taste. I would personally recommend roasted eggplant and Hunan noodles. Delicious! The man who served me, a warm-hearted guy, comes from Fujian, China. Fun fact: the Hunan cuisines here are cooked by a Dongbei (northeastern China) chef, but even as a Chinese national, I would say these cuisines are beyond my expectations.

Our family celebrated my husband's Birthday today. All the food we ordered taste really good. Had the Sauteed Sliced Eggplant, Sauteed String Beans, House Special Fried Rice, Eel sushi, Tuna roll, Chicken Pad Thai, Lunch Specials like Sweet and Sour Chicken, Orange Chicken and Cashew Chicken were delicious. Definitely good Chinese/Japanese Restaurant to go to with so many choices of entree to choose.

Have been here before and sushi was good. This time I did Chinese Genl So's which was good and Pad Thai which was spicier than expected and the chicken was very overcooked. Waiter didn't understand enough English.

Food was terrible. I had pieces of crab in my food that were inedible and disgusting. Never ever going there again. I called to complain and the manager/employees could not even understand me.
