Visited here a couple weeks ago while visiting, just from looking at websites we came across it. It did not disappoint! Food is so fresh and good but the kicker was their Choc Espresso Caramel Cake! šŸ’š in fact we came back 2 weeks later, today, to have brunch again and buy a whole cake to bring home! Very friendly staff as well! Definitely recommend. I want to try everything on their menu!

A bit overpriced in my opinion. I got a sandwich and salad and the sandwich was a little dry, and also $15. That being said, I definitely want to try more of their baked goods and cakes, especially with their really unique flavor selection.

Probably the best place in town for classic airy sourdough bread. Definitely scratches that itch of when I need solid Miche or a baguette. The pepitas polentas bread is very very good too, it’s not grainy at all, like you might expect from polenta but has a luscious interior. I wasn’t a huge fan of the other grain breads, I thought the loaves with flax felt overseeded. The breakfast is also solid, but some of the options do sound better on paper than in execution. Overall I’d say go for the classics here and you will be very happy.

My kids and grandkids had lunch here today and it is much more than a bread bakery. So much more, and all really good. The outside is pretty nondescript, but inside it is warm and inviting. The bakery case is filled with lots of yummy treats and the menu board has something for every taste, all freshly made. The Egg Salad has a Pesto addition which is really good, and all the other dishes were beyond good. The fruit was super fresh and very tasty.
There are two small cozy dining areas. One has a window into the bakery area and the grandkids enjoyed watching the pastry chef work her magic.
Parking is in the street or the small adjacent parking lot. While the location is accessible, the dining areas are a bit tight for a wheelchair. However, those at the tables would be happy to make room as needed.

I highly recommend Madison Sourdough for your wedding cake! They were easy to work with, and the cakes were beautiful and delicious. They packaged the cakes nicely for easy transportation. We had no leftover cake at the end of the night despite ordering more than we thought we needed—our guests kept going back for more.

Delicious sandwich, and the bread was absolutely the star. So glad I made a quick stop before leaving town on my brief visit to the area, I hope to be back next time I visit.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Madison Sourdough since 2012. Moved away from Madison a few years ago and recently visited my favorite spot and was severely disappointed to experience unwelcoming, unenthusiastic vibes from the front of house. The staff there used to be very welcoming and persistent on helping you out and welcoming you whenever you came in. It felt like there was a general sense of family and desire to welcome the customers into that experience. The general vibe from whoever works there now is that they are absolutely too cool for school. These people will not look at you in the eye or ask how your day is going. You will be browsing the bread display near the window and instead of walking over to ask if you need anything, they tell you to ā€œplease order at the registerā€. It’s as if they feel that you are lucky they even let you hang out there.

I don’t care if you make the best bread and pastries in the world. If you can’t support the product with a welcoming service and vibe then I don’t want to be near whatever you’re doing. Never coming back.
