Beautiful spot and great music, food and drinks!
Always the best vibes
Great place, wish there were more options
We had our wedding here, and it was just amazing. Not only was the staff kind, professional, and communicative, the Union was so picture perfect for our special day. In particular, Sam Mack was just the best to work with. Highly recommend as a wedding venue or your next big event!
Our wedding at the union was fantastic! Sam Mack (venue coordinator) was a great communicator and all of the Union Staff was incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the planning process and day-of. We had our ceremony in Tripp Commons and our cocktail hour and reception in Great Hall. The food was good (not the best I've ever had, but also not the worst), the cocktails and drinks were great, and it was so nice not having to make a million different decisions. They really guide you through the process which was exactly what we were looking for. The Union has done hundreds of weddings and it really shows. The whole day went very smoothly and the price was right! Would highly recommend, especially for UW grads!
The Union Terrace is the Best place to hang out on a summer day.
Right on the lake. Boats, beer, brats, salads, pasta, ice cream... Everything you need for good times.
The Terrace also have a performance stage and they offer plenty of free concerts.
Great property
Winter festival was fun
Enjoyed a fun movie night on the terrace!
Very nice & adorable

The sound engineers assigned by Union for RSOs for ASM funded music events at Shannon Hall are incompetent and lack skill. Every live event I like to play this game called audio roulette I plug my instrument in for sound check and trust the sound guy. But will it be audible live ? Or for 20 secs or 4 mins? Nobody knows. l've had vocals / instruments not audible in the live mix even after a tech rehearsal with the sound guys. What's the use of giving out a great performance venue and not caring about the quality of performances? If they don't know how to operate the mixing console please hold training for people / students you hire.
Nothing beats an afternoon/evening on the Terrace with a group of friends. Inside the Union is good food and there's always something going on to entertain. Madison is so lucky to have this place.
The Memorial Union/Terrace is such an iconic location in downtown Madison and we are so grateful to have had our wedding there after meeting each other in undergrad. Sam Mack, the event manager we worked with, was so helpful throughout the process and helped us make decisions if we were having trouble deciding something and all his suggestions were spot on. He was extremely communicative, responsive, helpful, and organized. He made planning the wedding a breeze and it was so helpful that so much is done in house that we really didn't need to worry about finding a number of other vendors or coordinating with multiple people. It was also such an affordable venue compared to others we looked at and the vibes are unlike anything you will ever find anywhere else. The venue itself was gorgeous. With the ceremony overlooking the Terrace, the people outside enjoying a nice day with their friends and families were all so excited and supportive of us when we were walking around and you won’t get that at any other venue. We had people at the terrace buy us beer and got such fun and iconic pictures because of it. The terrace crowd erupted in cheering and applause when we kissed at the end of our ceremony and it was such a fun, memorable, and cool memory. The staff were all so helpful and efficient. Dinner was served to everybody as fast as I’ve ever seen at any other wedding I’ve been to. The food was delicious, and from what the other vendors told us, the managers make it so easy for them to get in, get out, and set up/take down. The bar staff were so helpful and kind, and we couldn't be more grateful or appreciative to have gotten married at the Memorial Union. It was the best decision we made, hands down, especially as alumni. We would highly recommend doing your wedding at the union!
A great place to stay if you have a conference on campus. Easy parking the Helen C. White parking lot and walkability to local food options and State Street.
Great spot for food and enjoying the view of the water when the weather is nice! Lots of people and activity. Good spot to meet friends.
