Worst customer service. I called in a take out order and after waiting on hold for 7 minutes (not mad about that), my order was taken and I was told 30 minutes. My husband arrived to no order on file and waiting another 30+ minutes. We both got taco meals and I ordered side chips/guacamole with a side beet salad. They had no idea how to make the salad and didn’t include any guacamole. I paid $4 for a small bag of chips and no guacamole. Was charged for a soda we didn’t receive and a side of vegan sour cream. This was us trying the restaurant a 2nd time, but never again.
Food is good, but this is the second time where we have a bad experience with customer service. We spend $50 for takeout and then my husband gets reprimanded for going to the salsa bar and assuming he can grab some salsa. We ordered online where it clearly said a time for the food to be ready and we showed up to get it at that time. We don't have any trouble waiting longer for the food but we certainly don't appreciate being made to feel like it's a bother to make our larger order. If you don't want to serve customers then the restaurant should not be open or accepting online orders.
This was my first time here, after a recommendation to try it. I love that they have numerous vegan options, and they all sounded delicious. I went with the El Rancho Grande, and it did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly, and the restaurant had a homey feel. I will definitely be back.Dietary restrictions: Vegan options:)
I love Mexican restaurants and have tried nearly all of them in the Madison area. There are so many great places to go. Don't waste your time here. The food wasn't terrible but the service was beyond bad. I would have just left but was with a group and decided to not make waves. The counter employees were young and apparently trying but the design of the whole counter area is so bad that it made it nearly impossible to communicate with them. Then the owner, Oscar, came in and proceeded to make an incredible scene treating both the employees and my group very poorly. And the amazing thing was that we were the only customers in the restaurant! I can't believe that this place hasn't closed already. Try Taqueria Guadalajara. It's not far away, really good, and they've always treated me well.
If you like Mexican food but you have become a vegetarian or vegan, this is a place to try. I'm thankful for the vegetarian options I can put into my food. Salsa options are amazing too with spice levels that go up pretty high. Will go again!Vegetarian options: They got mushrooms, quinoa chorizo, potatoes, peppers, vegan cheeseParking: Good enough size parking lot
A very nice quick order style restaurant serving Mexican food and the Cubano sandwich.Service is very quick and the food is made fresh. Best Cubano I have had yet.
The owner was very fried y,. The restaurant has vegan, vegetarian and meat option, all of where are fantastic. I ha e the nachos with vegan chorizo -outstanding! My daughter had the veggie bowl- awesome! My husband had the taco salad-yummy! Dishes are reasonably priced. Will definitely make this a “ go to” restaurant on our list.
We were excited to get some traditional Mexican food as it is our favorite. We ended up each getting a three taco dinner but they were out of what we ordered. They tried to make the meat quickly to keep the line going but our food was dry & burned. The menu showed their Thursday special as $2 Tamales so we added this to our order. Much to our surprise 2 Tamales ended up costing $12 and didn't come with rice or beans. When we asked them if there was an error we were informed we read the sign wrong. We sucked it up but were unhappy as they were also burned so we could only eat the top half of them. We hate leaving unsatisfactory reviews but wanted to let the owner know that the menu's are confusing, the food was burned & warn other customers that for $50 it wasn't worth it. We hope they can solve these issues for other customers.
Just picked up an order and it was delish! The shrimp tacos were tasty! The guac was really fresh and yummy. Kicking myself for not trying them sooner. Also really wishing I could have another piece of coconut cake. Yum!!!
Honestly, this is more of a 3.5 star review... The meats were all great, we tried chicken, pork & barbacoa.. but my tacos were on cole corn tortillas. Elote was fine... It was just thawed corn, I think it should be charred at the very least. The ordering process was very awkward. Salsas were great. Kind of pricey for the size of the meal.
Food was okay but nothing exceptional - mostly stewed and pickled ingredients - no telling how fresh everything was. Nothing gourmet about it. The tacos were street-sized portions, maybe 2-3 bites per taco which is a lot given that it was roughly $4/taco. The whole experience felt like I was being nickel and dimed for upcharges that are typically free, like thimble-sized things of below-average salsa with a limit of 2 thimbles for 3 tacos, which didn’t cut it. The iced tea, which costs $3 was bland and no ice was available. For the money, there are many, many better places to get tacos, burritos or whatever.
I LOVE this place. Every time I visit, I'm amazed with the large, elaborate servings of food. They have an incredible vegan menu, equivalent to their non-vegan menu. Give this delicious, inviting small business a try!
I went here for some food the online experience is confusing so I just ordered in store. It's definitely a little different than other restaurants, however the guy here is very helpful and patient for walking me through it. Food was amazing fresh ingredients at its best
I haven't been here in a long time. Stills good place for a quick bite if I am in the area. Tortilla was cold and didn't like the flavor/consistency of the chorizo meat. Babacoa meat was good. I loved the salsa bar with several options.
My wife and I worked with Chef Oscar to cater an engagement party we threw for our friends. From inquiry to delivery, payment, and eating, the entire experience was fantastic. Chef Oscar is helpful and has good avice about how much to order. He takes a lot of pride in his food, and it really shows. We have always enjoyed going in to the restaurant for food, but the catering experience was equally excellent! The price point was also incredibly reasonable. These folks are our go-to spot!
