Muramoto is an excellent spot to get sushi and Japanese small plates. I highly recommend getting the tempura king crab with truffled bearnaise sauce if it's available. Everything I've ever had there is fantastic. I have a black cod dish which is a highlight. They have an amazing dessert which is a strawberry spring roll and ginger ice cream. All of their cocktails are good and they have a great selection of wine. The restaurant is in a great location and the staff is attentive and delightful. I used to do and all you can eat sushi night which was very fun and tested the limits of our stomachs. I don't think they do that anymore. I know they also opened a location at hilldale, which I did not think it was as good as downtown.

1 week living in a new city, and I'm so glad I stumbled across this place!The sushi is outstanding - some of the freshest fish I have had in Wisconsin. They have a large sushi menu, prices are standard and the rolls are HUGE. Between my girlfriend and I we typically eat 4 rolls. Here, was can barely finish 3!If you are gluten free, they do offer gluten free soy sauce!Inside decor is cute - it's definitely an smaller more intimate place. Lots of reclaimed wood. Cute spot for a date or dinner with friends.HIGHLY recommend. Plus, it's in a great area of downtown Madison.

Wonderful, friendly team of staffs and many delicious food options to choose from. They have traditional Japanese style sushi as well as vibrant Japanese-Western fusion sushi options. Muramoto often also has new seasonal menu items that are worth keeping an eye out for.The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a dinner date or a special outting with family and friends.If possible, I recommend making reservations if you plan to go on the weekend.

Great sushi and sashimi place in Madison downtown. This was first place to visit this location. But they well done the quality control almost same as the other location in hilldale mall.Sweet shrimp is good.Unagi is also good.But uni from hokaido Japan is fare. I dont think this was hokaido uni. Less fresh, less sweet and creamy than I expected.Service was also just fair.. That is why I want to grade only 4 star for this location. But many reason to expect to visit.

During our pandemic, I arrived at Muromoto and spontaneously decided to order. No phone number on the door. Fortunately, Cat, a manager, came out, and I asked her how customers order in such a situation without a number. Unfortunately, Cat was not nice. She said, "Go online." I showed her my flip-phone (no Smart Phone!), and her contempt was clear. She could have taken my order there, but she said she would get the number and come back out. When she delayed, I entered the outer hall (with mask on), and she yelled at me to leave. I confess that I called her a name (she deserved it), and she then told me I could not order, even though I asked to do so, as I had people waiting at home for food. Has COVID made everyone irritable? Don't restaurants need these orders? From now I will get better, cheaper sushi at Takara in Middleton. Margo in Madison
