Burgers are best in area. Hot rueben is insane. If you’re thinking about a bite, come here. They do everything right.

Food has been consistently good here. Not the cheapest for bar chow, but it’s justified! On Fridays, if you’re into Wisconsin’s Fish Fry, get there early!

I got lake perch fish fry and it was the worst fish fry in my entire life 🙁 It was really different from typical cod fries and was very fishy. This is my personal opinion but I HIGHLY recommend not ordering it.

When we arrived at about six pm on a Friday (fish fry) we were happy to be seated right away.
Blue gill fish dinner was 100% classic.
We love the way they do it.

Walked in just shy of 4 pm on a Friday. No acknowledgment so had to ask if we could sit anywhere. A young man said yes. He served a few people their food, but ignored us to clear a table instead. We could have been drinking a cocktail while he was clearing the table after! Then as waitstaff milled around, we had to ask for someone to get us a drink. Asked for olives in my Old Fashioned, but received NONE. When we asked to order we had to flag down someone to take the order. Now, it's 4:20 ish and was told the baked potatoes (an extra $2.50) and the baked cod would not be ready for an hour. Only deep fried items (& French fries). At this point the place was filling up (not yet the hour past) with elderly people who eat early. Wouldn't you think the total menu items would be available? I opted for a salad only and received a flat small plate piled with Spring type lettuce, two cherry tomatoes, a plastic container of dressing and three thick sticks of carrots laying on top which apparently never were kept in water. Lettuce fell all over the table due to the size of the plate. When the fish came, it was over fried and dry. My husband, who doesn't drink had water for a total bill of approximately $40. It wasn't about the money, it was the service and quality of food. We had a least three staff we had to ask for things. This was at one time a great Supper Club with great food. It has a very older clientele and I'm not sure what happened. We stopped with those old memories. Hope you are able to get better help with the "Help Sign" on the door.

Visited on a Wednesday for lunch. Ordered the fried Perch. 5 pieces lightly fried and served with fries. Also coleslaw. Perch was good and fries served hot. Local venue with high and low tables. Can also be served at the bar.

Quaint pub. Solid service and decent Friday fish fry

Gave this place a second try after a multi year hiatus. They have turned things around significantly. The burgers were really good, the fries were delicious & the service was far superior to the last time that I visited.

Hello everyone, if you are wondering where to go for the best burger (a burger without bells and whistles and extra items that in my opinion doesn't make a great burger!), in the Madison area, then look no further my friend. These are the best! Also, if you are looking for a delicious fish fry/grilled then I must say, I've yet to find a better place than Oakcrest. Plus the staff are a great group of friendly folks that I appreciate greatly! The only drawback is that the size of the building lacks the space to accommodate all of the loyal clientele (we are soooo many). So come early for a seat. I love this place!

One of the best little bars peppered throughout Madison.

Real burgers, not in the smash style, that are cooked well with various options for toppings. Fries and other sides were fried perfectly.

Drinks and food were both fair or even impressive for the prices.

Only thing is make sure you got your boosters, because along with all the charms of a small bar, comes the haphazard dance with OSHA that is uncovered coughing of the grill/barback and lack of hand washing. Some people can appreciate that extra flavor. 🤠
