Two visits in a week. Same employee went from laughing with the customer ahead of us to rolling his eyes at us, refused eye contact, and kept snapping “speak louder” even though we were already loud enough that people turned to look. When we asked for multigrain instead of white, he slammed the white loaf on the counter and acted angry. I went back today—same person, even worse. The treatment felt targeted and discriminatory.
On top of that, I could see spit while they were chatting and making sandwiches. That’s unacceptable around food.
I’m done with this place. Management needs to fix the staff behavior and basic hygiene immediately. Not recommended.

I usually love Potbelly’s food and the staff are great. This evening for national sandwich day, however, Potbelly bit off more than they can choose by running a BOGO promo and not having an adequate online ordering system. My order in the app said ready for pickup at 7:01. When I arrived at 7:10 and waited until 7:35 to ask if my order was even within the next 10 of the queue it wasn’t. Overall, frustrating evening for me and my partner as well as the staff and other patrons.

Pot pie soup is amazing. Prime rib sandy is also good. Broccoli cheddar yum. Chili Mac is what it is. Never met a chili Mac I didn’t like.

I had the Cubano and a shake, and my wife had the Mediterranean. We both enjoyed our food, and the window seat on State Street. The person who made our sandwiches went out of his way to make sure we got exactly what we wanted.

This has become my go to sandwich shop recently. I really like their bread and ingredients, it's a little pricier than other sandwich shops but it shows here. Staff are nice and quick, restaurant is pretty clean

I love Potbelly's Mediterranean sandwich, and the sandwich I got on 5/31/25 was exactly as I remember it with one exception. I don't remember the hummus being spicy the last time I had it, but I really enjoyed the spicy hummus! The two people working yesterday were very nice and made everything quickly. The location of this shop is perfect to hit up after the farmers market on Saturday. It fits very well into the whole State Street vibe. Potbelly offers decent food at a decent price.
I just wish Potbelly had more locations around Madison.

The shop has inconsistent times for when the shake machine is up and running. The shakes are good, but the staff is rude. There has been several different occasions at different times where the staff has informed me that they “are not doing shakes right now”. There has been no other explanation besides this.

It took 16 minutes to get my order and about half of that was waiting for the cashier who was taking his time and making mistakes. The customer service here consistently leaves something to be desired. Employees tend to either be rude or not be very communicative
