Was looking for a place to get dinner near the Capitol, and I can always go for Mexican food, so I decided to check out Señor Machetes and try the enchiladas. The server was super nice, and prices were reasonable too. Will definitely be back!

We were in town for work & am so happy to have found this spot while googling for dinner ideas for our group (6) with a range of dietary needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free in the mix). I called to see if their beans/rice had any meat broth/lard & was assured they were vegetarian! Everyone was happy with their food - the salsas, the margaritas, the guacamole, the entrees ( I had the chili relleno - photo) were delicious! We all agreed it was a favorite of the week & we will be back next visit. What a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Madison. Go.

Super fun and unique Mexican food. Machetes are basically super long quesadillas. This place had very good meats and I could tell everything was high quality. A lot of food for the money!

Very nice staff, and the food was even better! My wife got a Rojo and a Verde tamale, and they were loaded with flavor. I chose the taco plate with carne asada, which also came with rice and beans. They are up there with the best tacos I've had! The salsa they offer were great flavor to pair with the tacos. We shared an horchata (IT WAS AMAZING) and we also got churros for dessert, and they were fabulous. I would recommend this if you love true authentic Mexican food! Great spot.

The food here was excellent, I typically don’t care for Mexican food but the chips and salsa were delicious as well as the cucumber water. I got the pinada salad and my mom got fajitas and we were both happy

Señor Machetes is a gem in Madison! The flavors are bold, authentic, and creative—especially the birria tacos and the machetes themselves, which are a must-try. The portions are generous and don’t forget the Churros for dessert. Staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is laid-back and fun. Highly recommend!

This is my first time leaving a review for this awesome local restaurant, even though I have eaten at senor machetes for years and we have been doing take out as a special weekend treat every other month .
I love their food . Full stop . This take out version was no exception . The machetes are so filling yet the quality is outstanding. Huaraches with steak is also another staple that I like to order. Gluten free is the majority of their food so that is an extra plus . Always make sure to get a side of guacamole and their homemade tortilla chips . So good ! Their guacamole is chunky and seasoned perfectly .
I will continue to recommend this place to people when they are in Madison as it has been a rotating staple for us .
