Best steakhouse ever! We've been coming here for fifty years, and my parents before that. Good food and good people. We'll miss you. See you at the closing Saturday night. All the best!

Classic Wisconsin food in a wonderfully authentic setting that is unfortunately closing down after 70 years. Glad we got in within the very last month.

I am going to miss this place. Great supper club! The food and cocktails are awesome!

As you've probably heard, this restaurant is officially closing Saturday, 2/26. I have been here countless times over the past few years, but this most recent visit was with a group of friends on a weeknight. I was surprised at how busy it was - from the moment we got there to when we left, it was packed. There must be a lot of people coming to have their final meal and to say goodbye. For dinner, we ordered calamari, cheese curds, filet mignon, shrimp, salmon, etc. - all were flavorful and fantastic (didn't take any pics, we were too excited to eat). We received generous bread baskets, vegetable apps, and such a large proportion of sides, too. Our server was very sweet, attentive, and polite, and the bartenders were outstanding. Come for the drinks (while you still can), you'll thank me later!

We should have stayed at the bar. Drinks were fantastic, employees were wonderful. After being seated our meal was very disappointing. Both steaks were supposed to be medium rare, they were very well done. We sent them back. Ordered steak and scallops for almost $50, very small steak, about 6 bites, with 2 scallops. Sprig of parsley was put on plate to take up room. Hash browns were under cooked and bland.

We finally went. I know, it's closing for good in about a month, but we HAD to experience it at least once. We've been calling for weeks trying to make a reservation, and during the day, the phone rings busy so that was an epic fail on our part. By chance we called after they were open (novel concept I know) and the gentleman who answered the phone said they didn't have any reservations for the evening, but if we wanted to wait they would get us in. We walked in, checked in at the desk and bellied up to the bar. The old fashion was good. We ordered the cheese curds and shrimp cocktail at the bar. Both were great, the shrimp were huge and you get 4. The cocktail sauce was good. The curds were great. We were sat at our table within an hour, which we were happy with. The salads were salads, nothing special. The cottage cheese has a little too much flair to it. We ordered the Pork Chops and Prime Rib. I'll start with the meh first, the Prime Rib. I was told it's fantastic, it was good at best. The plate they served it on was so hot that it continued to cook the Prime Rib from the bottom up. One of our prime ribs had a ton of fat in it, and the other did not. Now, conversely the pork chops. Holy cow were they amazing! Two bone in chops with amazing flavor. We had baked potatoes (it's really hard to screw those up) and the hash browns for sides. The hash browns were good, although the server said they were amazing. It's too bad this place is being forced to close, as the atmosphere is fantastic.

Wonderful Saturday night prime rib and pork chops on one of their final nights.

This supper club has been a staple in Madison for more than 65 years. Alas, it is closing at the end of February 2022. If you hurry, there might still be a reservation or two available. We walked in and sat at the bar. Wonderful Korbel old fashioned with olives. So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good bye.

With only another month or so to go we wanted to say goodbye to Smokies before it was too late. We chose a Wednesday of this week. On our arrival we found the bar very busy with nowhere to sit. Finally got a couple of Old Fashions at the bar that were some of the worst we have every had. Way too much ice and club soda, no flavor and very little in the way of Brandy. This used to be the best place for cocktails but not on this night. We were seated in the back room which was uncomfortably chilly and we were surprised to see only one of the ten or so tables occupied. After the bar we thought the whole place would be busy but not so. The two steaks we got, ribeyes, came on the metal plates like in the past but they were not sizzling like they should have been. A bad sign. The steaks were good but average. Not the "to die for" ribeyes from before.( Fifty dollars) Sort of flavorless and just ok. The hash browns were very good, the ice berg wedge ok at best. This is not the Smokies it used to be.There is not one bartender or waitperson left, that I recognized. Even the neon light above the building has only one letter lit up, sort of an omen of what's happening here. Even the menus you get at the table are cheap printouts with smaller founts that are hard to read in the dim light. We are going to miss this old wonderful restaurant but this is not the send off that we hoped for. Not even close to what it used to be. I guess with only a few more weeks to go they are just resting on their past reputation and doing very little to make it special. It was sad to see.

Dinner was excellent as always! Everything done to perfection! Do WE really need more apartments after covid is over? I know we are going to miss a fantastic Supper Club!! Sorry no pics of the Brandy Alexander and Grasshopper!

We just had our last meal at Smoky's Club before they close and it was as delicious and memorable as ever. You will be missed! PS, send your hash browns recipe my way...

I have been going to Smokies for decades. I hear that it is near impossible to get through on the phone because, THAT is how good it is. Start the dinner with the large 16 martini menu or have a fantastic old fashion or Manhattan like they should be made. I myself am a kitty cocktail person & they are just like they were 55 years ago. You are served a relish tray with rolls, which has gone by the way side. If you get Steak, It is Pan-Fried to perfection with excellent flavor and seasoning . nothing like a steak when it's been seared in a hot pan to keep in the juices. The Shrimp is huge, walleye excellent, Scallops, of course twin lobster tails. The hash browns are so brown and crunchy on the outside. Of Course One of The Last Great Supper Club's will be Greatly Missed I'm Madison and the surrounding area.

I don't know what to think. I've called this establishment 48 times and the 3 times I actually got through it rang 20 times and hung up on me. No one will return my call and I'm about fed up. I can only give this place a 1.

My girlfriend and I hyped up this place so much for weeks. We were excited to come here. We were seated pretty quickly which was good. Ordering was pretty quick. The soup was lukewarm but not bad. The cheese curds weren't great-pretty average. The 5oz was disappointing. For a place to claim they are known for steaks and to get what I did with all the expectation, I was disappointed. Especially at the price point. What wasn't disappointing though was the scallops! They were big and very good! The drinks were decent. I watched them make an old fashioned and had one myself and wasn't too impressed. My girlfriend had moscato and did not like it. Overall, disappointing for us, but maybe not for you. If you like the atmosphere of supper clubs when busy and don't care about dishing out more than you like for average-ish food then I'd try it! Maybe being there at a less busy time too would help with food quality.
