Absolutely love Wednesday dancing and socials with Luis Armacanqui. Wednesday beginner Latin dance lessons and intermediate dance lessons now run simultaneously at 7:30 pm typically alternating salsa & bachata. Wednesday March 20, 2024 was Bachata, Wednesday March 27, 2024 will be Salsa Sometimes Luis will mix it up but it's always posted on his capitol social Facebook page There are three dance floors to choose from. Near the bar, in front of the DJ booth which has a great location, and a little behind the DJ booth. The bar floor is typically sticky & often has tiny pieces of glass that drag on the shoe so don't wear your favorite shoes. There tile and wooden floors usually aren't sticky and usually do not have glass on them but anything can happen. The front door men are great. The bartenders are great. The ladies room has been in good shape each time I've gone. We appreciate them greatly for helping Capitol Social host their weekly dance lessons.

I usually love Sotto and have a great time, but I went the other night and the music was so so loud, to the point where I think I legitimately got hearing damage. I’ve never been to a club where this has been an issue — if they’re going to have the music at that level they should at least offer ear plugs because it is 100% not worth having ringing in your ears for the next few days. That being said, service is always great at Sotto, love the bartenders!!

Last Thursday, my friends and I went for Noche Latina and the ambiance was lit and the music was on point. The DJ played reggaeton, salsa, bachata and cumbia. The price of the ticket was $5 but it was a long line.

I've been here twice in the last several months, and both times were serious let downs. The place itself is a pretty cool vibe, I could do without the smoke, but the music was pretty bad. Over extended mid beat drops that were only danceable if you were really drunk or desperate to dance like I was. Most of the night, you'd look around, and everyone was standing around waiting for something good or recognizeable to play. Not an enjoyable time. I hope they get a new DJ, I'd maybe give it one more shot.

this place assumes gender and does not support transgender rights. I would 100% rate 0 if i could. The management also takes pictures of customers in the bathroom, which is against the law. People who are rating this place high have not seen anything else in the world. You will be disappointed if you visit this establishment.

I'm new to Wisconsin and miss dancing with my friends back home so this was my first time trying this place. But it was so much fun! The vibe/atmosphere was ideal. All the staff were courteous and professional. And the DJ for the night was fantastic. I'll definitely be coming back again when I get a free night on the town!
Smells terrible inside - body odor central. I don't think anyone that frequents this place has heard of deodorant. Overpriced drinks compared to other places. plays the same basic, terrible music on repeat. Staff is absolutely inadequate, apparently undertrained, and beyond rude. Just about the worst spot you could decide to go in downtown Madison. I would literally rather drink at home alone than ever go back here. There is no redeeming qualities or factors about this place. Hard avoid for me. Racist bouncers, inattentive bartenders, bad music, bad smell, bad lights, bad location. Pretty much all bad.

The bouncer was racist and his supervisor was supporting racism instead of condemning. Yesterday night, It was raining outside and we waited in queue for 20 mins. When our turn came for scanning, he told us to step back even though there were people behind us and they were also standing in rain. When we explained that people are behind us and it’s raining the. He started to abuse and when his supervisor came. He was also just watching. He didn’t allow us and quickly scanned rest of other and let them go. His behaviour was RACIST and RACKLESS. Sotto management should decide what kind of mentality your employees have and you also support them.I am sharing his picture here. Sotto management check your security camera decide where you stand.

NOT a place for people of color. The bouncer with metal detector turned our group away and abused us by calling "mother******". This was on 04-15-23. Heavy rain outside, we were drenched waiting in line for a good 25 mins. Finally when we made it, this bouncer starts telling us to step back, pushing us all the way out of the entrance. We tried as much as we could. With the folks behind us pushing to the front, we came out as much to stay within the small shade to save ourselves from the rain. This guy suddenly snapped and said "You guys are outta here". When we asked why, he started using abusive language and told us to get out. The manager said the same thing, "if you want to call the cops, step outside and do it."Check other 1 star reviews with folks complaining about this place. They are TRUE. Attached is the picture of the guy who kicked us out. His and the manager's behavior was completely inappropriate, outrageous and exaggerated without logic. We left that place thinking it was a clear case of racism. Didn't expect this in downtown Madison area.
