The food is simple (sandwich, salads, burger and a few other options) but tasty. The staff is friendly and makes sure yi ur experience is good, and the decor is nice. Bonus point for the nice selection of whisky and spirits, great for a restaurant. Also, during happy hour a few items are very fairly priced. Went twice, loved it both times, and will come back again. Thank you for the hard work!

Went here with a group for Madison Restaurant week and we were so excited to try a new place! We made a reservation for 5:45 and were there for a little over 2 hours. The service was beyond slow and we had to go up to the bar to pay. The food was subpar at best. Appetizer was just a mound of cold broccoli with cheese, main course was a sausage in puff pasty (wasn’t too bad) with a mound of mushy kale I think. Dessert was a cold block of blueberry “cobbler”. Overall, the service was horrendous, and that will be the reason I won’t be going there again.

This place has the best happy hour in Madison, and it does l goes until 7:00 on weeknights (at least on Wednesdays). You can get a smash burger with Fries and a drink you ten bucksish. Fried pickles and cheese curds, and nachos are also on the happy hour menu, and several other items as well. They have trivia on Wednesdays as well, if that swings your decision one way or the other.

Swanky place, the Discovery Building is amazing ... the happy hour specials are great. Parking is a pain, and pricy, but the effort is worth it.
Parking: Smash burger, by itself, is great, especially at the happy hour price. It takes 2 to fill me up. The fries are ok, but they fry in seed oil -- that's a no-no.

Steenbock's catered our wedding in August of 2024. They did an incredible job with the appetizers, dinner, and late night food. They were very accommodating and flexible with the menu - we were able to pair custom sides with one of the entrees without any trouble at all, to make the food just what we wanted. They were able to accommodate a last minute (2 days before the wedding!!) switch of an entree to gluten free. Our meeting with Diana, the event manager, before the wedding was really helpful to nail down all of the details she needed for the night. The servers during the night were very professional. In addition, the food was delicious. People raved about it. Steenbock's provided plates and silverware for the dessert table even though they weren’t providing the desserts. Diana was helpful throughout the planning process answering questions promptly via e-mail about name card stickers, timeline, etc. We were really pleased with Steenbock's and thought they did an exceptional job.

Such great food! I had the Mushroom Caesar Salad and Tunisian Tuna Sandwich and both were so unique and delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. There is construction right across the way which was a little bothersome but didn't take away from the great experience.

Delightful fresh food. We enjoyed sitting near the open bay doors. The tuna sandwich on a ciabatta roll was light and flavorful, made with preserved lemons, olive oil, harissa, and a touch of parsley. The chicken Caesar salad was a generous size.
