I was there with my friends on Mondy night and the order taker was very rude and very bed customer service. Also food was so bed and they serve cold rice and warmed up other dishes form previous day and uncooked naan still we continued to eat. After that we ask for the one of the crew member that can we get Manager or owner number so we can talk to him/her regarding our experience with there resturant then same lady said we don't have the number after that one more guy came outside from back area by cash register and we were trying to explain him how was everything again same lady got involved in to the Conversation and we found out that the guy and lady were son and mother also they are the owner. One more thing is the guy(son) was using bed words in front of all of my and my friend's wife and kids. So i would strongly suggest to all to not to go this restaurant and don't waste your money and time.
Worst service I ever came across. Food is horrible!!!!!!!! We visited this restaurant from our trip from Wisconsin Dells. We were threatened by the owners son after we tried to approach the management with our concern regarding service and food taste (quality). I feel frozen food from Indian grocery store would taste much better.
Unsanitary!!!!! Worst service I ever came across in restaurant!!! Very unwelcoming and unprofessional host!!! Please READ this review before going to this restaurant. I WISH I HAD READ PAST NEGATIVE REVIEWS for this place!! Food was REALLY BAD AND COLD. Appetizers had no taste and it tasted very STALE!!! I AM ONLY GIVEN 1 STAR because there is nothing lower!!!!!
If there is lower than this I would probably give that. I regret if not reading this before visiting the restaurant. We were coming back from our long weekend from Dells and thought to eat some Indian food on our way back to Chicago.
My husband and I would go to Taj India quite a bit five years ago, right up through my pregnancy. However since the birth of our child I have felt we have been discriminated against at Taj India. We moved from Madison when she was six months old and returned when she was 3 1/2. Once we got back to town we immediately wanted to eat at Taj. My daughter is extremely well behaved in public. I usually give her the sugars to stack and sort when we are out. A bus person immediately came over and snatched the sugar caddy out of her hands. I'd like to add here that none of the sugars in the caddy would have been edible, they were hard as rocks either from water spilling into the caddy or from being returned to the caddy after washing while still wet. Either way I was pretty disappointed when that woman snatched it from from her with such veracity. So we've been ordering takeout, until today when I had a doctors appointment and we could smell it the buffet from the parking lot. My daughter, now five, and I sat in the car until 1130. When we walked in a woman was vacuuming. I mak when we walked in a woman was vacuuming. I made eye contact with her and she did not stop vacuuming. When she finally came around, I said “Two please.†She looked at my daughter, then looked me right in the eye and said quite brusquely “we aren't ready yet.†Not “right this way,†not “it will be a moment but can I get you a drink,†not “we aren't ready yet but please sit and I'll get you some naan.†I've had enough, and I'm typing this sitting in with my daughter at an Indian buffet on Monroe St where the nice lady said “right this way!†We won't be spending our money at Taj Indian further.
My family had food in this restaurant now and everyone felt the food tasted horrible. They must have kept old food and reheated the food from fridge.....I generally don't write reviews if it's bad but this I felt really bad wanted to save others from going into this place DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY... first time I came half stomach from an Indian restaurant
The buffet, was fresh and really good. Nice small restaurant, definitely recommend it if you want Indian food.
Our food was very good. The waitstaff could have been friendlier.
Food is awesome value for money.
Food was tasteless. We ordered two curries both were tasteless. And yes staff was rude too. I won't go back.
Restaurantji Recommends
I find the dishes authentic, the service warm and the option to decide your spice level all very attractive. I like my food very spicy. Medium was perfect and that's what I'm looking for in an Indian restaurant. I want to be able to tell someone "no need to try the Hot, medium has all the flavor you need". But also..."try the Hot".
Authentic Indian food. Happy to find this place after tried many restaurant in Madison.
The best in Madison. Awesome taste and Service.
Best Indian food I have ever had. I have been a fairly regular customer for the past 9 years and have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant!! 5 stars!
At the end of the menu is a very reasonably priced combination dinner that includes an appetizer, naan, rice, three different dishes, and dessert! It was very good. We chose goat, chicken, and lentil.
