Staff was extremely friendly, even for a carry-out order. The place feels very clean and trendy. Highly recommend the lunch specials for the best deal. Be adventurous, try stuff other than pad Thai! They do so much else so well, too lol

Spicey Cashew Nut chicken (medium spice) was delicious! Service was courteous. Would definitely visit again. Dining room was a bit warm, but fans helped.

Ordered some food for carryout while staying in madison this past weekend and was inpressed! Had the pad thai and an order of crab meat rangoons. The rangoons were absolutly amazing and the best ive ever had. would go to this restaurant just for those. The pad thai was very good, medium heat was actually a little spicier than i expected but not too hot. I would say that if you prefer your pad thai to be peanut forward than order a side of the peanut sauce to add because that would be my only criticism, that it wasnt very peanuty.

I've eaten here in person before and they made their Pad Kra Pao (spicy basil chicken) very good correctly. I decided to order the same menu online a few days later, but this time the dish was 70% vegetables, the chicken wasn't even minced, it was sliced. Quite disappointing since the meal was quite costly. Not sure why what I ordered online was different from what I ordered in person.

Sincerely the best Thai food in Madison without question. Yes, I have had every other Thai restaurant in Madison several times.

Honestly, I know some people who like this but it is not authentic Thai food. I ordered crazy hot and not a sight of chili was seen. Sometimes, the food is underseasoned and sometimes over seasoned. I also preferred the red curry noodle and got barely any curry or flavor. It was 85% noodle. Som tam was under seasoned and not spicy at all. Also why is there more of a sweet taste rather than that fish sauce spicy taste? Sauce didn’t even touch the papaya and just sits in the bottom. Far from authentic.

Good Eats! There is a reason why this spot is so busy. From starter to main course, the food was quite tasty. Friendly staff!

Vegetarian options: Very limited vegetarian options as dishes are made with the traditional fish sauce.

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE A SHELLFISH ALLERGY! I ordered one of the soups with chicken; I took one bite and it tasted like seafood and smelled like seafood. When I asked if it contained any shrimp the waitress promptly replied, “yes, it has shrimp paste, all of our curries have shrimp paste also” The menu does not indicate this at all. It’s always been easy at restaurants to avoid shellfish so I didn’t mention it when ordering - it’s not typically a hidden ingredient. Luckily I’ve only had mild reactions in the past and only had a very mild reaction to this. To the folks at Thai Basil, please add this to your menu. It could be a very bad outcome for someone else. They seemed reluctant at first to offer me something else until I asked to see the menu again.

CRAB RAGOONS! All the food I’ve had here is amazing. I know crab rangoons aren’t really Thai food but they serve them here and they are super good. They also have actually traditional dishes that are really good too.
