While taking my husband on a birthday weekend The Edgewater hotel did a fabulous job of acting horrifyingly inhuman and excessively rude. During our check in the agency experienced a system error. Following this computer deficiency they ran my card until it was rendered unusable and flagged by the fraud department. Having left my secondary card at home to cover the cost of my family and farm expenses I was left having paid for a hotel room at the Edgewater that I was not permitted to stay in. While trying to correct the problem I was treated with condescending attitudes and rudely for three days. If you want to pay excessive room rates and not have a place to stay, all while being treated absolutely appalling then book with Edgewater!! There is really nothing quite like being stranded in an unknown city to help you to understand and appreciate good customer service.
Great room, location was unmatched right on the water, and fun events!
We had a great time at The Edgewater Hotel in Madison Wisconsin! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We loved our room with a lake view. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The food and drinks were also fantastic! The Edgewater is close to the restaurants and shops in downtown Madison. We also loved the complimentary shuttle to and from the airport! Highly recommended!
The dining experiences are great and the service is excellent. You can’t beat the gorgeous views of Lake Mendota!
Although this hotel can be pricey, if you can, it is so worth the splurge! The service is unbelievable, the rooms spacious and beautiful, beds are so comfortable, and bathrooms are so spacious. I loved our stay!
Absolutely wonderful stay. The Edgewater is beautiful and the staff very accommodating and respectful. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a spectacular view.We also enjoyed walking to the beach and docks with the Grandkids. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!!
The property itself is great, beautiful lake-facing rooms and well kept overall. However, for this price point especially, you’d expect a friendly and helpful front desk staff and that was not the case which was a disappointment.
Absolutely slow and terrible service. Food mediocre. Nice facility but definitely not worth the money. Steaks $65 were cold. Glass of wine finally arrived after meal was finished. A big disappointment. Do not recommend this place.
My husband and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted to find a hotel and service that would ensure a memorable experience...in comes in Trip Advisor Rep Myron Petties to the rescue! Myron provided expertise of the hotel layout, best package options and exceptional professionalism that makes all the difference when you have many choices of which to do business! My husband and I secured our reservation and are as giddy as two in-love teenagers. Thank you Trip Advisor and THANK YOU SO MUCH TO MYRON PETTIES; blessings abound! Warmly, The Bakers
My husband and I spent the weekend in Madison, two nights at The Edgewater. It was terrific! Our first floor room had a terrace so close to the lake we slept listening to waves. Just down the street from the UW campus and the State Capitol, it's a great place to stay and explore the city.

long walk from room to facilities, if your going to use the spa service stay in the building that houses that group otherwise, you'll get more exercise walking between buildings and parking than you would at the fitness facility. noise in pipes woke us up at 6 am on Sunday. I would look else where as Madison is a great town to travel to, better options downtown.
Overall, a nice hotel with great views at a lake. Stayed in a very spacious room with a comfortable bed. Liked the Stateroom restaurant - very good food and service. Spa facilities are adequate, a great relaxation room. What is called the relaxation pool is essentially a large jacuzzi.
The Edgewater is a beautiful property located in an exceptional location. Close to the capital. Walking distance to shopping and dining. The lake view is incredible. The service is top notch. Food is fantastic. The rooms are clean and attention to detail is noticable everywhere you look!
The gym is certainly not a gym and needs a lot of help. Bar service is also not right for a college sports town telling guests sports is a waste of time. Overall staff at the bar needs to see how a well run bar is operated. A lot more to bartending than just making drinks. Guests shouldn’t see a pile of things behind the bar, crumbs and food all over the table tops or on seats, and we shouldn’t see staff sitting on the ground.
We had a wonderful stay with great service and attention to detail. The reservation staff went above an beyond to make sure our needs were met. We loved the lake view and beautiful hotel amenities. I wish we would have known more about the available spa services earlier, so we could have taken advantage of them.
