Our stay on September 5,6 and 7 was horribly dissapointing. To start with we had requested a corner room facing the lake. Our reservation had been made four months in advance. When we arrived this was not available. The staff offered to compensate valet and resort fees. The following day we were out of the room most of the day. When we returned at 5:30 we found our room had not been cleaned. We notified the front desk and it took 40 minutes before someone arrived to do a quick 5 minutes clean. I had requested clean sheets but that didn’t happen. They again offered to compensate valet parking and resort fee. We explained those had already been offered for our other issue at check-in. The staff told us they would have to check with management before they could compensate us for problem having our room cleaned. The following day I once again requested fresh sheets and again that was ignored. Upon checkout we were handed a bill with no compensation for either of our complaints. Except for a nice driver named Dylan, we did not find the staff friendly. We would certainly not recommend this hotel.
Even though it was a very busy night (220 covers, we were told) due to Graduation Week in Madison, the Statehouse was on its A game. The service was excellent, and the food was 4.5 out of 5 stars (nicked it .5 for the Butter Board app that sounded better than it was). Our group enjoyed four different entrees, all cooked to perfection. The chicken dish was especially delish. We definitely recommend this restaurant.
While taking my husband on a birthday weekend The Edgewater hotel did a fabulous job of acting horrifyingly inhuman and excessively rude. During our check in the agency experienced a system error. Following this computer deficiency they ran my card until it was rendered unusable and flagged by the fraud department. Having left my secondary card at home to cover the cost of my family and farm expenses I was left having paid for a hotel room at the Edgewater that I was not permitted to stay in. While trying to correct the problem I was treated with condescending attitudes and rudely for three days. If you want to pay excessive room rates and not have a place to stay, all while being treated absolutely appalling then book with Edgewater!! There is really nothing quite like being stranded in an unknown city to help you to understand and appreciate good customer service.
Came for a birthday lunch on a Monday with my parents and loved it! They came in from out of state and I thought they'd enjoy the lake view. The menu doesn't have a ton of options, but my dad said it was one of the best burgers he's had (and he is very stingy on compliments!) Mom had the avocado toast and I had the spiced chicken sandwich, all were delicious. (Avocado toast had prosciutto) Chicken sandwich had a great sauce, arugula, Swiss cheese on a pretzel bun. Very quiet on a Monday at lunch, service was excellent.
Absolutely disappointing!! We gathered to celebrate our mom's 88th birthday. We had 2 tables, one 10 person and one 4 person. All orderes taken the same time. Unfortunately, the food for the large group didn't come until well after the small table was finished and decided to leave. The waiter was unaware of any missing food, drinks although asked for repeatedly. We finally appraoched a manager to see where our food was. After 60 minutes some people got their food, some did not, some was cold, some was ok. Overall, not a celebratory experience. We did ask the waiter if this was a kitchen problem and he said no, it was his fault. They offered us dessert to take home, but that was also lackluster. We have had such wonderful experiences and food here in the past, but this experience left us looking elsewhere for our next get together. Also note-20% tip was added to the bill due to size of group but unearned in any way by the waiter. Exceptionally poor service, ok food for some, not even ok for others.
I had been here years ago and had a lovely time, but unfortunately, my visit recently was not very good. We had poor service and overhead the waiter make sarcastic comments, it took asking three times before my daughter got her tea, my brother in law got the wrong order and it was never corrected. My niece didn’t receive her order and by the time she got her burger, several others were already finished with their food. My food was only of average quality and several in our group complained their food was cold when it arrived. I try to extend grace to the staff, but with so many problems, I cannot recommend anyone go here.
Nice setting, excellent drinks, average food, poor service. I don’t think I will be back as so many other options in the area. Other average to poor reviews are consistent with my experience. Too bad as it could be a “go to” place in Madison.
The views are terrific, and a table near a window overlooking the lake is the way to go. I had dinner and breakfast, and both servers were weirdly disengaged. My dinner, in particular, was slow. My salmon dinner was fairly ordinary too.
Great room, location was unmatched right on the water, and fun events!
We had a great time at The Edgewater Hotel in Madison Wisconsin! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We loved our room with a lake view. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The food and drinks were also fantastic! The Edgewater is close to the restaurants and shops in downtown Madison. We also loved the complimentary shuttle to and from the airport! Highly recommended!

The dining experiences are great and the service is excellent. You can’t beat the gorgeous views of Lake Mendota!
Although this hotel can be pricey, if you can, it is so worth the splurge! The service is unbelievable, the rooms spacious and beautiful, beds are so comfortable, and bathrooms are so spacious. I loved our stay!
Absolutely wonderful stay. The Edgewater is beautiful and the staff very accommodating and respectful. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a spectacular view.We also enjoyed walking to the beach and docks with the Grandkids. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!!
The property itself is great, beautiful lake-facing rooms and well kept overall. However, for this price point especially, you’d expect a friendly and helpful front desk staff and that was not the case which was a disappointment.
Absolutely slow and terrible service. Food mediocre. Nice facility but definitely not worth the money. Steaks $65 were cold. Glass of wine finally arrived after meal was finished. A big disappointment. Do not recommend this place.
