While taking my husband on a birthday weekend The Edgewater hotel did a fabulous job of acting horrifyingly inhuman and excessively rude. During our check in the agency experienced a system error. Following this computer deficiency they ran my card until it was rendered unusable and flagged by the fraud department. Having left my secondary card at home to cover the cost of my family and farm expenses I was left having paid for a hotel room at the Edgewater that I was not permitted to stay in. While trying to correct the problem I was treated with condescending attitudes and rudely for three days. If you want to pay excessive room rates and not have a place to stay, all while being treated absolutely appalling then book with Edgewater!! There is really nothing quite like being stranded in an unknown city to help you to understand and appreciate good customer service.

Went skating here with friends - easy to get tickets and skates (and a drink)! The rink is a little small but unbeatable outdoor

Hosted a business event in the rooftop bar here and stayed one night in a fourth floor lakefront room. The Edgewater to my knowledge is really the only large high-end hotel right in Madison's downtown and hosts touring musical acts, visiting college sports teams and business functions. Location is handy to both the capitol and university. The staff was pleasant in my dealings but I found the prices a bit high and the decor in the rooms and some of the common areas kind of lacking. The Boathouse bar seemed deserted when I looked in; the Statehouse restaurant served a nice meal with a view. The place is definitely playing up its history and roster of famous guests on its 75th anniversary.

At check-in, no welcoming word or much of anything of help. Asked for my name, checked me in, handed me the room cards without saying a word. I asked about wanting to self park. He entered something on the computer, did not offer to show me where the garage was or how to get in and out. He basically just dismissed me after that. There was 2 front desk persons at the time and only one other guest. At check-out, another person gave me a receipt as I asked for it. I said thank you and got back a grunt like he was adverse to being nice. Either cases, I did not feel welcomed there.

Best hotel in Madison. The staff there is incredible throughout all the different areas of the hotel. We stayed for a family event and it was a perfect place for us. The views of the lake and location downtown can't be beat!

We did a quick family trip/spa day to Madison and chose to stay at the Edgewater. We’ve stayed there a number of times. As usual, it was a great experience. Great lakeside room, good service, and good food and drink. And definitely a great location along Lake Mendota, and close to downtown and UW campus.

I am a big fan of the hotel for someone who lives in walking distance. The week days is a great vibe of locals, especially summer months. Live bands, Boathouse is open, and nice mix of families. I'd suggest for college visits to the university, is in walking distance.

The Edgewater, nestled on Lake Mendota, views of our state capitol, a short walk to all the best things Madison has to offer! Amy Supple does an amazing job making sure her customers have the best experience!

Stunning location, beautiful hotel unfortunately lacking in elegance with regards to the front of house staff. July 2023 Set in a stunning location on the edge of Lake Mendota, The Edgewater Hotel has many beautiful features; The stunning spa, Lakeview rooms with large comfortable beds and luxurious bedding. The Boathouse and Statehouse restaurants connected to the hotel are an excellent combination of casual lakeside dining with a fabulous menu and elegant, high end fine dining. The Boathouse staff were young and casual and very friendly which suited the casual lakeside environment. Unfortunately we felt that despite the luxurious surroundings, the lack of elegance and professionalism from the front of house staff really let the hotel down. It did not feel like a high end hotel, and at $1000 for 2 nights we expected excellent service and a little bit of luxury in the room above the basic requirements, but we were very disappointed. There were no teabags or milk in the room as stated, no mini bar or any extras in the room at all other than a very small bottle of water each in the fridge. We arrived in the evening, so asked the reception staff if they could provide some tea bags. He wasn’t very helpful and just sent us upstairs to The Statehouse restaurant to ask if they had any. We also asked the staff at the statehouse if they had a biscuit or a chocolate to accompany our tea. They gave us 2 teabags and a paper cup with a very small amount of milk and 4 small chocolates. We were charged on our bill $10 for the 2 teabags and $15 for the 4 chocolates! We were appalled at the price and at the lack of helpful service. We had just spent a few days in the Four Seasons in Chicago, which cost less per night than the Edgewater yet the elegance and helpfulness of the staff far surpassed the service we received at the Edgewater. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is really beautiful.

We were here for a wedding. The event was at the hotel and was great from a guest's point of view. The lodging experience not so much for a highly touted and rated hotel. No one at valet or bell at check in (and it was raining). Similar situation at checkout when the valet didn't help with bags, just handed us the keys. Room service food in the hall across from room and we called to have it taken away but it was still there hours later and called again. Gym is substandard and no pool (except for "relaxation pool" in spa area. It just wasn't top notch for this class of hotel and the expense.

Lovely hotel on the water. The staff was attentive and friendly. Ate dinner on the deck at the Boathouse on the water. The service was good and the view was amazing as the sun was setting. I hope to check out the spa during my next visit.

Great room, location was unmatched right on the water, and fun events!

The fish in the fish fry was overcooked, the french fries were too salty, and the coleslaw had a weird taste. It was a very disappointing fish fry!

We had a great time at The Edgewater Hotel in Madison Wisconsin! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We loved our room with a lake view. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The food and drinks were also fantastic! The Edgewater is close to the restaurants and shops in downtown Madison. We also loved the complimentary shuttle to and from the airport! Highly recommended!
