The onion strings with the spiced paprika sauce is all it takes to make a trip to Madison worth it.

First timers. We had to try their Cheesecurds, they were delicious! We each had a salad--salmon, and grilled chicken--both were very good. We will go back.

We went for lunch on a Saturday with friends (group of 4) to share a bit of classic Madison food culture while we were enjoying the Capital Square. They were busy, which isn't surprising, and we were told that it'd be a 15 to 20 minute wait. After waiting for 30 minutes, I asked again about our position in line and was told that we were next up. After 45 minutes, I asked again and we were finally seated quickly afterwards. Our server was busy, but she did a great job and was very helpful, prompt, and courteous. Our food was good, but nothing particularly special. Cheese curds for an appetizer, two of us had hamburgers, one grilled chicken, and one bratwurst. French fries were plentiful. But, nothing really stood out about the food. The atmosphere was noisy (lunch rush) and classic old Town. Good, but not memorable.

Went for lunch. Was fantastic. Drinks, food, everything was really good. Ruben was the best I had in Wisconsin, and my partner has the pot pie dish and raved.

This is my favorite restaurant in Wisconsin, and Saturday night once again proved why!! Even though I was alone (my husband passed away last year) and a senior, I received first class service from your bartender Travis all night long (and he was working his butt off behind the bar!) The old fashioneds were excellent, as were my cheese curds and chicken pot pie over biscuits. Tasty grasshopper to finish off the meal. Other customers around me were friendly and engaging...just adding to a terrific day in Madison!!

2 major negatives against this place for me:1) the old fashioneds are genuinely awful. My favorite drink is an old fashioned and I’ve probably ordered hundreds of them. Please believe me when I say these are some of the worst old fashioneds I’ve ever had.2) 3% credit card fee is pretty out of touch with the times.2 positives:1) wait staff was polite and helpful2) cheese curds were very fresh and great.
