Let me start with the good.
Food was delicious, everyone was pleased, no wait to get a table and now I know why.
The bad, the staff.
Not everyone, however they don't seem well organized. We didn't have a dedicated person serving us.
After being sat we waited about 10 min , nobody checked in on us. I had to go ask (maybe the manager ? A female ) if we could get utensils. There was a Latino man who was the one going around asking if anything was needed. Had to ask him to send someone our way so we can order, and to get our check.
Just like the review prior the gentleman with a gray sweater is who actually took out order and seemed bothered to even take our order, he walked away before we could finish ordering and never came back
The wait time to bring food out wasn't that bad
It has potential. The other two who might be managers are very friendly.

We stopped into The Post for breakfast on what had to be one of the busiest Saturdays downtown Madison could possibly have, the Farmers Market, a Badger game, and Ironman all happening at once. The square was packed, but inside The Post there were maybe four tables in the whole large restaurant. Honestly, after our experience, I wasn’t surprised.
The manager (or someone who looked like the manager) was friendly and polite, but our server (bald, wearing a Badger sweatshirt) was one of the rudest servers I’ve ever encountered. He skipped a greeting, let us sit for about 15 minutes before even coming over, and when we finally ordered drinks, his attitude made it seem like we were inconveniencing him. I asked if I could do a build-your-own omelet and he shrugged with, “I guess if we have the stuff.” When I asked about adding bacon, he said “sure” in the rudest tone. A bacon and cheese omelet is hardly a strange request, but the way he acted made me feel like we were asking him to do something far outside his job description.
The food itself was good, and the manager actually dropped it off, but our server never returned to check on us. No butter or jam for our toast, no water refills, no second round of drinks offered. After sitting for 10+ minutes post-meal without anyone coming by, we finally went up to the bar to ask for our check. The manager once again took care of us, while our server sat behind the bar doing nothing.
It’s a shame because The Post is such a cute spot with good food and a great location, but the service we received was truly awful. On a Saturday when downtown was overflowing with people, the restaurant was nearly empty, and after our experience, I understand why.

My favorite and only breakfast spot in DT Madison. These guys understand what the traditional and simple American style breakfast is supposed to be like. If you love the classic 2 egg fare with delicious hasbrowns this is your place. No silly over-complicated home fries with this place!
1. Walked in
2. Had to state that I wanted to eat there
3. Was given a menu, no direction for seating
4. Sat somewhere
5. Got ignored for 10 minutes despite someone else being seated 15ft away and being in view of the staff
I'm good

Food was delicious but it took forever to get the food. Seems like it is under staffed?
Lovely decor and location, but not a good option if you have somewhere to be afterwards.

Decent food, absurdly long wait when not even that busy. Waited more than 10 minutes just to order after getting menus and still no check after a long time too

Food was okay. Service is horrible. Waitress never checked on us. Never received an appetizer we ordered. Asked another employee twice for our check to leave after waiting 20 minutes after eating. Our waitress never came back once.

Don’t bother coming here. I walked in for lunch, the bald male waiter looked at me like I was in the wrong place. I had to ask if there is table service. He gave me this whole speech about brunch and bingo or something, he clearly didn’t want to be bothered. The place was empty, bad vibe, probably due to the rude waiter when you walk in. If I owned this place, I would fire this guy.
Ordered the beer battered cod fish fry. Received baked cod instead of beer battered fried cod. Plate didn’t have coleslaw or tartar sauce and was lukewarm at best. Also ordered the fried cauliflower appetizer that was also barely warm. $30 for subpar food? Wouldn’t recommend.

The ugly bearded male bartender at the post told me my REAL ID was a fake. I am 22 and from California. He said the “yellow light” meant it was fake. Has he never seen an out of state ID? Or is he simply stupid and untrained? Either way he was extremely rude after I presented him with multiple second forms of ID which he refused to look at.
Kind of meh experience. The food was not bad. The service was mediocre. I ordered the seared scallops and you can see from the photo they were not very seared.
Staff was inexperienced, dinner was mediocre. Desserts were excellent however. Breakfast was decent if unexceptionable.
The atmosphere is great!
