Unique pizza joint with all locally sourced ingredients. Manager and staff are excellent and went out of their way to take care of us. Pizza and wings were top notch!

This place has great and helpful service. Second time being here and it was months between visits and we were still remembered. The food here is also just as great as service if not better. James and kitchen crew are phenomenal!

This pizzeria is hit or miss at best, but give it a try. Can get pricey but it’s in a popular Bohemian-esk neighborhood. Years ago this place was excellent and won many “Madison’s Best” Awards. They do have some products that are locally sourced which is great. Service is great even in this economic climate.

We went to the Roman Candle for dinner tonight and it was good! The Middleton location is large and there were only a few other parties there. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and it was fantastic. We also built our own Hawaiian pizza and it was good, pretty average. Two small pizzas and one beer was about $40, seemed a bit pricey.

The food was great, but the service was impeccable. Our server (Kyle), mentioned that he was actually a cook but they were short staffed so he was our server and he was amazing. He was friendly, funny, and all around made our dining experience a 10/10

I have mixed emotions about this place. I was in last week with 3 others for dinner. We arrived somewhere around 6-6:15pm. When we walked in, there was one other customer in a booth and just us. There was an employee up at the counter area - he didn't say hello or really acknowledge us as we walked in. We grabbed a booth. Now, I'm not sure if we are supposed to order up at the counter as I have never been in here before. If that was the case, the gentleman should have said so. We would have happily ordered at the counter. Instead he waited a while to bring us some menus, didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink, and really only said the bare minimum amount of words to communicate with us. It was super awkward. We placed our order a short while later. When the food came out, it was extremely tasty and cooked just right. Whoever was in the back definitely knew what they were doing! Very happy with the quality of the food. The weird vibe and lack of friendliness from the server really threw off the visit, though. It almost felt like he was annoyed or bothered by us being there. Kind of a bummer considering how tasty the food was. I won't be back.

I'm a pizza connoisseur, that loves pizza. In fact living and working in New York City gave me the opportunity to eat many amazing slices of pizza. Recently while visiting Madison, Wisconsin I was staying near Willliamson Street, one of the best streets for restaurants in Madison. I was anxious to try "The Roman Candle Pizzeria"and it was a wise decision. It was so cozy inside, clean and spacious. I ordered a slice which took ten minutes since it was a made to order pizza. WOW....it was worth the wait. One bite and I was in pizza heaven. Amazing thin crust pizza with perfect sauce and a generous amount of Wisconsin mozzarella cheese. I topped my pizza with some fresh garlic. I loved my first slice so much, I just had to have another especially since I had to leave Madison later in the day. I had a second slice and it was absolutely delicious. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he told me he used top quality ingredients in his pizza and I couldn't agree more. I can't think of a better place for pizza in Madison than "The Roman Candle Pizzeria." So glad I ate here. What an end to my visit to Madison, a pizza made to perfection.

3 people on staff not busy at all. We sat down went to counter to order. I got the red pepper soup and a salad. Got my food a half hour later. All employees were on their phones the entire time. Received my soup that was ice cold with what looked like 1/4 size of a bread stick. I’ve eaten here several times before so I know the bread sticks.the bread stick was ice cold. Got my food reheated bread stick ice cold and now hair in my soup. Got my salad and see picture rotten lettuce.

Cold soup. Asked for it to be heated. Came back with hair. Served with cold breadstick. Asked for a warm one. Told they don't have them. 2 slices of pizza, 35 minutes. Rotten lettuce in salad. Shame. Good pizza. Server on his phone most of the time. 1 of 2 tables in the building. Won't be back.

Everyone in the food industry has to wear a mask while they're making food, except for one short man making pizzas. Put a damn mask on, I bet you if I would've said something he would've made a big deal out of it you could be getting lots of people sick you idiot.

Came here on a rainy evening for dinner with my partner. The place wasn't too packed so we were seated right away. The server was friendly and attentive. We opted to share the garlic bread and the chicken Alfredo pizza. We opted for a medium prized pizza and it was the perfect size to split between us. Both the garlic bread and pizza were great! I'm not the biggest fan of chicken Alfredo but I'm glad I tried it here. We left with clean plates and full stomachs. If you're looking for a casual pizza spot with some fancier/more unique options that won't break the bank then Roman Candle Pizzaria is the place for you!

Great pizza. Ingredients are fantastic, nice thick cuts of Canadian bacon, and chicken and the breakfast bacon was on point. Friendly staff, and very clean restaurant and bathroom.

Used to be GreatI've been a customer for over ten years and ordering from two different living locations. For the last five years, I've placed many orders at my current address. Enjoyed the food and appreciated its existence until the service from the employees and quality of the food started to deteriorate over the last few years. We tried to order wings tonight. The order was taken and paid for over the phone without issue. About a half hour later RC called me back to state they needed to cancel my order because we were "out of their delivery range." I proceeded to explain that we had been delivered to many, many times to the same address and that nothing has changed. I even alerted them to the fact that this wasn't the first time this mixup occurred and that management assured it wouldn't happen again. I then asked if they looked up my account via my phone number. The person on the phone confirmed that they had and then admitted that they found me in the system showing my past orders. Vindication, but no change. The employee on the phone stated they still had to cancel the order and that no manager was in the restaurant to validate my claim because they already left (despite the fact that their computer showed I was delivered to by them direct, no third party delivery), and with only one delivery driver they wouldn't do it. I finally had enough. We had been already waiting over a half hour thinking our food would be on its way. Time wasted. Hunger increasing. How can I order from a place successfully, then not be allowed to order from the same place at a different time and be told I'm suddenly out of delivery range? It's incredibly frustrating to call an establishment wondering if you'll possibly get service or if you'll get turned away because it changes from day to day.As I told the person on the phone, I'm done and I will not be ordering from Roman Candle again nor eating at the physical location. The food has lessened in quality over time as well. We were hoping to have a better experience, but no dice. Long time patrons finally moving on.

Wow. Hands-down the best gluten free vegan pizza. That's hard to do well! My wife had a regular veggie pizza and said it was fantastic. The staff are wonderful as well. Prices were reasonable for the quality.

I HIGHLY recommend Roman Candle for your next pizza date. They have a pizza that is already entirely vegan on the menu and it is SUPER easy to order with any additional modifications you may want to make on it. The service is top tier too! My only recommendations for potential customers would be to bring some extra dollars to tip the fantastic staff, and a sweater as it's a bit chilly(to help keep you from burning up as pizza kitchens get very hot). I have never had a pizza with pine nuts but oh wow, chef's kiss to this beautiful and delicious pizza! This is probably the best pizza I have ever had(and I am not being paid or in any way incentivised to say this)! We did add vegan cheese, and we omitted the olives, peppers, and onions.
