Beautiful views, acoustics not so great. Had a table next to us that was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Appetizers were great, our strip steaks were very tough, but the tenderloin was great. Service was very good.

My party of three was seated, and while we waited to put in our order, we watched the staff set up a table for a party of eight. Somehow, that table of eight got seated and put in their order before us. That table had a different server than us, but it's discouraging to watch people be seated after you but somehow get their food before you, especially when their party is more than twice your size. Our server was fine, and the food was good, but probably not good enough for us to come back for Sunday brunch.

Terrible service. Waited for waiter, ordered an appetizer. Waited again to order dinner. Then had to find him to get the check. Brutal service!

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was wonderful. The view was gorgeous and the food was excellent. Great service all around.

Terrific food and great ambience. The views of the lake are awesome. We would definitely go again.

It was chosen as a place we could celebrate my granddaughter being accepted to UWMed school.

While taking my husband on a birthday weekend The Edgewater hotel did a fabulous job of acting horrifyingly inhuman and excessively rude. During our check in the agency experienced a system error. Following this computer deficiency they ran my card until it was rendered unusable and flagged by the fraud department. Having left my secondary card at home to cover the cost of my family and farm expenses I was left having paid for a hotel room at the Edgewater that I was not permitted to stay in. While trying to correct the problem I was treated with condescending attitudes and rudely for three days. If you want to pay excessive room rates and not have a place to stay, all while being treated absolutely appalling then book with Edgewater!! There is really nothing quite like being stranded in an unknown city to help you to understand and appreciate good customer service.

Was there for lunch a week ago. A very well located restaurant with a great view of Lake Mendota and Picnic Point. Food was good, but service was slow and the orders were also mixed up by the waiter that day. Could be better managed.

Food and service was very good. The restaurant ambience and the view of the lake was outstanding. Inflation has increased the total cost of the food which was a bit on the high side. Excellent facility to host a business dinner.

Steak was over done, ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. The server took it back to the kitchen where the manager brought the same plate back out with the light on her phone in hand and had our our guest cut into it. It was visibly over cooked and she continued to asked "this isn't done to your standards?...its just dark in here." Not to mention confronting a table like that in a busy dining room was humiliating and unprofessional. Who would want to sit and argue with someone that is already standoffish? We were told dessert and another drink was on her for the trouble and we never received that drink. Our server came back to check on how we were doing after we had been done for quite some time, we had no drinks, ice being the only thing left in our glasses for water. At this point we just wanted to leave. Our server asked "So how was everything?" To which one of the persons in our party responded, "Well it wasn't great but it is what it is at this point." Our server didn't respond and just walked away. We were all left speechless. The dessert came out at least 30 minutes later after being done eating as we were leaving and we even told our server we didn't want it becuase our experience up to this point wasn't good. We had to ask someone else to get our server to bring our check and she dropped it off and walked away yet again. For the atmosphere and cost of the food, service should match and it just didn't. Very disappointing as this was our first time to this restaurant. As a positive- we enjoyed the lightning show over looking the lake and the bread & butter spread.

On the upside: The atmosphere is lovely with beautiful views of Lake Mendota. The steaks were good and cooked as we desired, although expensive at $55 and $79. On the downside: The wedge salad was essentially white lettuce with very few toppings. I was taken aback by this. The worst part, however, was that our dinner was served within 1 minute of our salads arriving. I had not yet taken a single bite of my sad salad when the steaks were presented without a word by the kitchen staff who waited as we moved our salads aside to make room for them. We remarked on how quickly they dinners arrived but no one said a word. The waitress came over shortly after and apologized but no offers were made to remedy the problem (e.g., not charge for the salads, or take the steaks back until we were ready). We were having a special dinner that night and did not want to ruin a minute of it by haggling over the service, but I am glad I have a chance to comment now. Another issue was that the staff removed a drink and dinner plate before my guest was done! On a final note, the chocolate flourless cake was extraordinarily small and served off-center on the plate. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant.

Gooey cheese curds, great chicken sandwich with crispy shallots on pretzel bread, waterside views and excellent service.

I have been to a few Date Night Specials (cough cough Merchant), and this has been the best in Madison by far. I would highly recommend the Tuesday date night special. Great location and awesome food.

Honestly was not what was expected. This restaurant looks high end from the start but the only thing high end is the view. The decor reminds me of a hotel lobby. Service was very detached and felt rushed, experienced much better at similar price points.

So it was a good meal, but I was really surprised when the check came that they had added a 20% (over $80) tip as a service charge. There were only 6 people in the party I know this is common for parties of 8 or more, but that is usually made clear, and I have never had it happen for parties of less then 8. It led to what I felt was an uncomfortable discussion with the wait staff asking about this extra charge, and had I not been diligent I would have tipped on top of the charge. So beware and look at your bill when it comes to the table.
