Umami Ramen & Dumpling Bar

My favorite place to bring people when they visit town. Incredible food, no frills. I'm a big fan of the communal aspect of ordering a bunch of small plates for the table and sharing them. Not much seating so make a reservation if you can. If you can make it for happy hour it's kind of a ridiculous deal. Head across the street for the arcade bar afterwards.

Update 11/6/25:
They nerfed the happy hour 😞 Instead of all happy hour items half off, they now hover around 25% off (depends on the item). Still a nice deal, but far less value. To be fair, the previous happy hour was kind of an absurd deal. Still recommend!

It’s a cute little spot! Definitely was festive—they had Halloween decor up. Our waitress was dope. Super nice and friendly and attentive. Overall, the vibes were good here. The food was fine, but it just didn’t wow us. We got the pork & chive dumplings w/ spicy sauce, pork buns, spicy pulled pork buns, miso carbonara, and tonkotsu ramen.

The pork buns were good. We really liked how tender, yet crispy, the pork belly was. The spicy pork buns and dumplings were okay in comparison. The ramen was enjoyable! I would say that this place makes really great meats. The least favorite was the miso carbonara. The chicken was delicious, but my partner and I were indifferent about the sauce. The noodles in the carbonara were a little tough as well. We couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be that way or undercooked.

Overall, not a bad stop! To be fair, we’ve eaten at many ramen spots, both fusion and traditional, so the bar has been set high for us personally.

Umami Ramen & Dumpling Bar is a cool spot with a hip vibe. The food is great and the prices are really reasonable. Would definitely recommend checking it out

Amazing ramen! But I think they reduced their quantity (the bowl seems smaller now and i could finish it easy today, unlike earlier id be full after half the bowl!)

Absolute gem of a place! Perfect, quiet, location with amazing service and atmosphere. The gluten-free ramen is always delicious and filling! Grab a bottle of sake and its a great place for a date ;)

The best ramen on the Willy. The atmosphere of the place is chic and stylish, reminds me of joint I went to in NY. The dining Hall is small and cozy. The staff is professional and very attentive. During the winter days like today with 6 degrees outside, proper slurp food with a spicy bomb will warm you right up. Check to see if they have any specials that day, dry broth less ramen is a great treat. Pickled veg to start, maybe a couple pork buns with half of you bowl of 1 of their great selection, will leave you full and with some leftover food for tomorrow's lunch. If you are vegetarian or vegan they have plenty of options as well - lightly fried vegan dumplings with one of the few different kinds of sauce, couple different salads and some starters will not let you stay hungry. The bar has plenty of great concussions to satisfy almost any taste of your craving)

I have now eaten here 3 times and appreciated the food every time. What stands out beyond very tasty food is their attention to detail and service. We ordered a gluten free entree and added mushrooms (marinated so not gluten free) - they labeled the dish identifying what was gluten free and what wasn’t and just in case packaged the mushrooms separately.

I called multiple times with questions and they were always kind, patient, and provided genuine recommendations and insights. It is a pet peeve of mine when restaurants/servers don’t feel comfortable providing an opinion.

I would highly recommend. Also, my two children tried three different items and provided their approval as well (not a typical experience as of late).

Addendum 7/10/2025
I ate here with friends and tried the Dan Dan noodles. It was spectacular with so much flavor, spice, and not to make a dad joke out of it but what I imagine is the taste umami. I will be returning for this dish. The rest of the food and drinks remained excellent.
