Waited 1.5 hour for a burger I never got.
I love this place it has family memories of weddings and bday parties. Now I go for bingo on Tuesdays and enjoy how diverse the crowd is.
The VFW Post 7591 proudly and correctly first states if you call their number, "We are open to the public!" Anyone may patronize the VFW and they want our business!
There are good natured, well intentioned and fantastically interesting people to be found here. The food is outstanding, fresh and made individually with care you won't find in most chains. Your food will be buttered and crispy and a big tub of water will be available in the dining rooms for every guest to hydrate. Please grab your water yourself, consider bussing your table and tip your servers with a smile. You'll find incredible results I promise. The VFW is all about community.
Please come here and enjoy the bar enjoy their fish Friday enjoy their full kitchen enjoy their dance floor dress to impress or dress casually. They cook to order and do it well, especially if you're kind.
Nancy you're my heroine thank you for reminding me of my own family and serving me awesome food!
Great Fish Fry and Live music, including my band, Marcy and the Highlights, every Friday night! Large dance floor and fun people! I forgot to mention - GREAT Brandy Old fashioneds!!
We stopped by for a bird exhibit that was being held in the rear of the building. The bartender was a very sweet lady and was patient with the kids as they ordered their Shirley Temples. She even provided extra cherries for them and watched their toys while we spent a few moments browsing the bird exhibit. This post is very tidy and well decorated. As a first timer, other patrons made us feel warm and welcome.
The fish fry is awesome again!!
I wanted to give the Thursday afternoon euchre group a try, but despite arriving 25 minutes before the listed start time games were well in progress and I was treated as if I was very late. When I chose not to stay under the circumstances I was told not to return.Edit: I appreciate the point that the euchre group merely uses the VFW space. The start time listed in the calendar apparently does not reflect the expectations of the euchre group. Perhaps that could be adjusted. But as I was specifically told not to return I certainly will not try the euchre group again. I can't imagine how it could possibly be pleasant. I'm sure the VFW as whole is a welcoming place and worth a try. The euchre group clearly is not, at least for me.
Fun time, to support the mission.
Nice place to drink
Very nice hall

Great Family of Vets. Good music played for everyone.
Wonderful place to meet with friends!
The VFW Post 7591 on Cottage Grove Road is a great organization that has a lot of things going on. The general public is welcome and encourages to come in. They hall a big hall anyone can rent out for their personal or business events… if it’s not already booked. Some of the events they have are every Tuesday is Bingo night, Wednesday are either music in the front bar or Karaoke, Thursday nights are free Trivia night with prizes, Friday night fish fry followed by music in the main hall, etc. Their are many other special events so come on in for a cocktail and check it out. This is a very nice and friendly place to come and hang out.
Bartender has no idea what personal freedoms mean. I basically got thrown out because of this. Will never return.
Large bar for a VFW, staffed well. They have a large rentable venue for events, parties, meetings, etc. Clean inside and out with ample parking.
