Our server was awful. My husband and I were seated at the same time as a table for 6. For some reason we were seated at a very small table when there were normal sized tables available.
Next- No one came to take our beverage for over a half hour. Meanwhile the table of 6 people has beverages, appetizers, and access to the salad bar.
At the 38 minute mark of sitting down our server comes and takes our beverage and dinner order. 25 minutes later my drink finally appears. At an hour and 20 minutes our food is finally served. I got a loaded baked potato and it wasn't all the way done and barely had any cheese, bacon and chives. The filet was done perfect.
Honestly I was so disappointed and this was my birthday dinner.
I just want to point out; the table of 6 is gone, long gone table bussed about 10 minutes before we got our food. The whole thing was ridiculous. Seriously you spend $100 on dinner and we were treated awful.

Front desk and dining room staff very accommodating. Rooms are a nice size and clean. Breakfast was good. Melinda at front desk and Kayla in dining room were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
My husband and I ate at this restaurant back in the summer and the food was amazing.
Unfortunately this time it was a different experience. I had the shrimp with ravioli. Some of the shrimp were undercooked and had a fishy taste and some were overcooked and dry. The ravioli stuffed with mushroom was good. My husband had lobster mac. His dish was very bland and soupy.
For the amount we paid we expected a far better dinner. We will not be going to this restaurant again.

I do not normally write reviews like this, but feel I am obligated since our experience was absolutely TERRIBLE!! Last night was our first and LAST time we will be visiting The Broken Spur. We had a party of 4 and were seated at a table half the size of the booths, where they were only seating parties of 2. Once seated at our table we were handed menus and never asked if we wanted anything to drink. We had to ask our server if we could even order beverages. She did take our drink order and proceeded to take our dinner orders. My husband and I were given the option of soup or salad bar with our entrees, but the other 2 in our party were not. My husband and I were pretty much finished with our salads when the bartender finally arrived with our beverages. Our server was standing near our table when the beverages arrived so I asked if the other 2 individuals should have been given the option of soup or salad bar as well. She did not even respond, however the bartender did by saying YES. My husband and I both ordered the scallops with risotto, one individual ordered the herb encrusted walleye and the other ordered the seafood trilogy. Each entree was awful. The "herb encrusted" walleye was caked in oil soaked panko, the "creamy white wine butter sauce" seafood trilogy was so fishy the gnocchi was inedible, and the scallops with the “crackling’” sauce were nothing more than 4 scallops with a bunch of pork belly doused in a sweet BBQ sauce. When the "chef" came around to our table I mentioned to him I did not know this entree came with pork belly as I do not eat that. He simply responded stating the menu should be updated with a better description. That was it. Since I received that sort of response nobody else was even willing to waste their breath explaining why their entrees were unfit. My husband who normally does like pork belly stated it was so salty he couldn't even eat it. We were there for at least an hour and a half to 2 hours and were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink and after our entrees arrived to the table we had to ask our waitress if she could clear our dirty salad and appetizer dishes away just so we had room on our table. It's very unfortunate as we spent over $200 to celebrate 2 birthdays and it was a complete disappointment.

This is for the restaurant, Broken Spur. 1. Old Fashioneds were so strong the ice melted almost immediately and did not taste good. Also they muddle lemon which is not normal for us. Maybe others like that. 2. Waitress was very absent and seemed under trained when she did stop by the table. We had to ask for initial drinks and she never came back to ask if we needed anything else. Never offered soup or salad to 2 people so we were confused what did and did not come with each meal. They were supposed to have the option and got soup after we had to ask. The bartender actually had to answer that question. We also had to ask to have the stack of salad and appetizer plates removed. We were seated at a small table as parties of 2 had larger ones. 3. Pan fried walleye, $26 - covered in Panko so it soaked up the oil it was cooked in so it was soggy and not good. 4. Scallops with risotto, $44 x 2 - scallops were not terrible but it came with more pork belly than scallops which the menu did not mention. We do not eat high fat high salt foods, so that was a waste of money, as there was only 4 scallops. Chef just said “oh maybe we need to update the description in the menu”. Unacceptable. We would have not ordered this if the menu was correct. 5. Seafood trilogy, $30 - very fishy tasting sauce. Not happy with flavor. 6. Seemed like nobody wanted to wait on us. I was dumb and still left a 15% tip, but I normally leave at least 20%. I normally don’t leave negative reviews, but not one of the 4 of us was happy with our meal. Maybe we should have ordered steak. We will never know how that tastes as we already spent $200 on sub-par food and service. The one good thing…..flatbread with steak, mushrooms, pesto and cheese. Should have just had this and saved a ton of money.
Excellent Perch!! Atmosphere is great! Staff do a nice job serving! Could use some work on their coleslaw!
When we arrived, someone was complaining to the hostess about the food. When he walked away, I asked her what the problem was, and she said that he said his food was undercooked, but he had no reason to complain that it was as just fine. Thought that was kinda strange to roll your eyes and basically say a customer was lying…
Anywho,… Ordered the baked fish, that came with coleslaw. The fish had absolutely no flavor to it.. I asked for melted butter… Which was definitely not melted butter… It was vegetable oil. My friend had the baked fish also and said that she had the same opinion… Absolutely no taste to it, and she also had the baked potato Which she said was cold. The salad bar was an up charge of four dollars… Which had lettuce, dressing, a plain tasting Generic cottage cheese, mushrooms… And that’s about it.
The waitress must be used to people complaining, because she Didn’t seem too surprised by it. Must’ve been the manager that came over then after her, this lady almost seemed offended that we did not like the baked fish. Asked if we wanted to talk to the cook.… ummmm I guess? But then when she went to get him, he had already left for the night…at 8:15pm and they’re open till 9…?
The whole thing was strange. The people at the table next to us said that the food used to be really really good and then something changed and now it’s rather disappointing. This was my first time going, but based on our experience, we would definitely not go back.

We used to come to The Broken Spur ALL the time. It was THE BEST place! We went in tonight for my Fiancé birthday dinner, besides the bartender everything else after that was not so good. My food was cold, my steak was supposed to be medium well it was red, sweet potatoes were cold, lobster was cold, our waitress never came to our table with our drinks we had to get them ourselves. It wasn't good! We loved going there 2022, 2023 now is not worth the money so sad.

Food was really good and came out very fast. Menu is limited but that is to be expected at a smaller hotel restaurant. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Would go there again or use it for a work event space for sure.

Slow service fried cod and perch were very salty, crab cakes were over cooked , soup was suppose to be clam chowder...it was spicy and possibly oregano and basil...tasted nothing like clam chowder...saw waitress taking away soup cause gentleman said it was too spicy and a plate of breaded jumbo shrimp was also taken back , kitchen was very loud, waited for our check , waited for second drink, came in at 5 pm ish and didn't get done until 7:00 pm ish....not very crowded at all this was Sept 6 th Friday...we will not be back or recommend..
Chef came out to speak to gentlman with the soup and stated I'm not sure what happened but I don't eat clam chowder so I will have to talk to sous chef.....a chef should know what everything taste like that's on the menu ...Was very disappointed

First time eating at this place and was a little disappointed.
First off the service was slow, lots of running around but no one visited our table for 10 minutes. When we eventually ordered my drink took into the starter to get there. After we got the food, some of the food did not come like coleslaw and rye bread. Only to be told they don't do it anymore or not ready even though it lists it on the menu.
The fish was tasty and seasoned well. Sometimes too well as there was a whole garlic clove in the mashed potatoe.
We will not be doing here again, next time culvers for taste and better service. Where the menu does not lie.
