Really good fish fry. Service was excellent. Lexi E was amazing.
The food came out quick and hot. Their summer drink menu has a nice variety. Becca was helpful and knowledgeable about the products and made good suggestions. Definitely recommend.
I am sorry to have to even really write this. We have visited this restaurant 3 or 4 times, and the outcomes have all been pretty much the same. On the upside, it is comfortable, convenient and in a pretty location, especially if you wish to walk off dinner afterwards. The staff is cordial and often very apologetic when things go wrong. I have never seen it crowded. The biggest issues seem to be leadership, training and management. There are wait-staff wandering all over the place, and they often visit with one another off to the side. All the while customers wait. Our waitress would come by infrequently if at all. Often I would have to ask for her to come back to the table to ask a question - and all this while the restaurant was nearly empty. It took 5-10 minutes to get my first beer. My second one, I had to go to the bar and ask. Then the bartender delivered it, 3/4 full with an excuse about how the tap was not working. What?? Just wait till the foam goes down and fill it up, right. It is like the simplest things elude them.My salmon had "been around for a while", I could tell by tasting it. It had a paprika-based or spicy rub, but it was not salty/savory/flavorful. I don't mind a little heat, so I just salted it at the table. The french fries would have been the best part of the dish, but there were not very many of them. The broccoli was overdone and some was inedible. They have no gluten free bakery products, so my wife had a hamburger on a plate, which is not a bad thing. It is something she has done at other restaurants. It came on a bed of lettuce that was old and wilted and should not be touching fresh food. It would not have been good to eat, really. Plating skills were non-existent, but my wife said it tasted good.I am amazed at how disorganized everything appears to be. Wait staff are buzzing around or sometimes standing at the end of the bar "in conference", but they do not come out to the table to check on the customers. To get a food issue addressed, I took the plate to the bar, and it was then returned by a different waiter. Huh?? There was an elderly gentleman a table over and he complained loudly about the poor service, and I do not think it really helped.I do think the place has potential. I have always felt that. The location is a good one. I also think that a good strong leader, with some good strong training, and some kitchen quality control and management would help - and I have said this on a previous rating. They need to cull their food, and dispose of their older items. I won't really know how this will pan out, because I won't be back. We tried. Sorry.
This is the first time coming back to the Main Mill since COVID restrictionists were eased. About the quickest thing that happened was getting seated. After that was a waiting game. While our server wasn’t sure about some of the menu when I asked about gluten free options, after checking with the kitchen she did offer some different suggestions. I ended up ordering the Wisconsin burger minus the bun but received something different. My husband ordered the salmon which he said wasn’t very good. Our server wasn’t very attentive and we had to flag her down quite often. Which was odd considering that the inside dining area wasn’t busy. My husband had to go up to the bar to get another beer which arrived with a couple inches of foam and an apology from the bartender for it saying that the tapper has been acting up. Kind of strange. He should have just waited a minute and let the foam go down instead of making it our problem. Maybe this was just an off night. It just makes me wonder why we bothered to go out. Nothing was pleasant about it.
Restaurant: horrible. Experience: worse.Restaurant:It seems the restaurant is going through an identity crisis right now, wherein they used to be nice and are transitioning to "chill," which makes for a super confusing average menu/food paired with weird jazz/20s music, a very disoriented staff, and unprofessional service. The decor looks like it used to be nice, but they're transitioning to cowboy/wild west and the whole thing is just a mess. For food we had two fish fries, chicken fettuccine alfredo, and mozzarella sticks - everything was average at best.Experience:We arrived 15 minutes after opening and had to go around back since the doors were locked and several servers just stared at us when we tried to get in. After ordering, the food took over an hour and a half to arrive (despite there only being 4 tables in the entire restaurant), and when we tried to find some staff to get drink refills/an explanation it took a solid 10 minutes for anyone to appear. When the food finally did arrive, two of our four orders were completely wrong. After apologizing for the excessive delay and mistakes, we were offered a free drink and appetizer as concession for our waiting, which was never actually taken off the bill!! We didn't even bother to ask for a revised bill, we simply paid and left as soon as possible, and definitely will never be back. Management needs to get ahold of what they want out of this place because right now it's a complete disaster.
Nice restaurant in a beautiful downtown area. Great service and huge portions.
Management! A group of us went last night for dinner and drinks. The service we received was horrible. We waited 40 minutes to get water and mixers for a party of 4. We did order one appetizer at the same time we ordered our mixers. Our water showed up after the one appetizer. After that we decided to just get one drink and leave. We ended up leaving and going to a different restaurant. This type of service is unacceptable and everyone with our party will never come back. This was a second chance we gave your restaurant. Our first try was prior to Covid for a work Christmas party. Service was decent and food was subpar. I am a manager and if I ran my business like this we wouldn't be open and I wouldn't have a job.
Both whitefish and cod were good, green beans were excellent. Above average coleslaw. Great drinks. Service was excellent.
Attended a private function...small group. Private room was perfect and service & food excellent. Great chips!!
We came to this restaurant for a meeting. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. we were warmly welcomed by the staff members and we felt excellent. The food was just great. We loved this place very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. We recommend this place to all.

Ok, so we've always enjoyed The Main Mill because it's a warm, comfortable environment you can enjoy in shorts and a tshirt or a suit. They did some menu changes that I'm going to rave about. I had the grilled cheese smash burger and it was honestly one of the best burgers I've had...fresh, cooked perfectly and great taste. My wife had their new chicken tenders that are beer battered and WOW they were great!!! Chatted with the manager and bartender for a bit about the changes and challenges they face with reopening during this virus time and the attitudes were very positive. For those worried about going out right now, the employees all wore masks and frequently seemed to change gloves. We will continue to frequent The Main Mill because of above average service, food, environment, cleanliness, and just a great place to have a drink or two and enjoy a comfortable night out!!!
Well I have only had 1 item off the menu, the blackened salmon, and my god is it delicious! I am always tempted to try something else but I can't even bring myself to it...thats how good the salmon is!! Seriously.
I meet friends in this lovely place quite often! This is the best place to dine. I go to this spot at least once a month. The cooking is just great, the staff is friendly and the charge is fair. I like going in this place over a rich lunch.
A very nice local restaurant. I went here for dinner on a Sunday night. It was not busy and there seemed to be a few locals at the bar enjoying their drinks and conversation. It has a nice layout and good seating. I had the Blackened Salmon for my entree. It was very good, and had lemon aioli that paired well together. My server, Tim, was very kind and attentive. Ask for him if you can. They have a good walleye on Friday as well for fish fry.
Phenomenal restaurant with excellent service! Main Mill has the best fish fry I have ever had. Mike and Colin at the bar always help to make it a wonderful experience whenever we go. One of the few restaurants I rave about to everyone I know!
