It's dark, like hell's waiting room, or a dungeon, or like the bar in Star Wars. Ne'er do wells and hooded assassins awaiting their next assignment in every corner...Dare you approach the barkeep to order a "hit"? Once you're in, you're in deep... 8th Note Coffeehouse is great! Expecting Starbucks (or even the Grind) is like going into a dive bar and complaining that it's divey and that there's beer on the floor. This is a volunteer-run coffeehouse and more of a "safe space" in the UWM Union for sci-fi nerds, goths, alterNATIVES; who hang out here to play D&D, Go, Magic, talk politics, skip classes, launch schemes against the MAN. And I love it. Approach the bar for service or you will not be asked what you want. Coffee here is damn cheap, and less than a dollar if you bring your own chalice. Do throw a tip and cast your vote into one of the two tip choice jars o' the day: Buffy- SMG vs. Kristen Bell? Queensryche vs. Queens of the Stone Age?

Ever want to drink a nice hot powdered apple drink, play Fallout 4 on your laptop, and yell about butt stuff? Than 8th note just might be the place for you. Just watch out when those sneaky metal heads try to change the music.

Come for the coffee, stay for the atmosphere. It's a great place to just take a seat and discuss all the newest nerdiest things with a bunch of random nerds. Bring your laptops, 3DS, and trading cards because there's a lot of that.

8th Note has a reputation of the nerdiest place on campus. There are tons of tables with students playing magic, catan, dungeons and dragons and more. Many students are almost afraid to enter. For myself, I was rather confused the first time I entered. I couldn't figure out who was working, and who I could ask to order. After looking around like a deer in headlights another student stopped their conversation and asked what they could get me. Since that first experience I was told it was ok to interrupt anyone behind the counter, that they are all student volunteer workers and are there to help me. There's even a sign that says "for better service, just ask." That's really what the name of this place should be. Their drinks are all made from powders, so the quality isn't that great, but it's 3x cheaper than anywhere else. With most prices being $1-$2 you really can't complain. Overall, this place is mediocre, but I'll keep coming back to get my vanilla chai for $1 instead of the $4.25 they charge at the grind or Starbucks.

Coffee and tea at excellent prices compared to other locations. With a unique atmosphere, it's not your ordinary coffeehouse - that's for sure!
Cheapest cup of coffee on campus. Cash only, but right by the ATMs in the Union.
Love their Vanilla Chai, cheap and delicious. Bring cash, because they're cash only. And keep your asses of the tables.
