La Merenda is a restaurant that offers a wonderful service and carefully prepared dishes, making it a great place for celebrations like birthdays and anniversaries. The staff is attentive and considerate of dietary restrictions. The menu features a variety of dishes, including truffle fries, goat cheese curds, seasonal risotto, Argentinian beef, Sambal shrimp, butternut squash chicken, veal special, empanadas, and a selection of cakes for dessert. Customers particularly enjoy the beef empanadas, Thai Duck Curry, and Jerk Beef. La Merenda is known for its small plate experience, which is fun, social, and inclusive. The sangria and empanadas are popular choices among guests. The restaurant can accommodate large parties and is a favorite destination for celebrations. The chef, Peter, is praised for his culinary skills and hospitality. Guests have enjoyed dining on the lovely patio, which is a major bonus, and the indoor ambiance is also pleasant. While some diners have noted excellent dishes and service, others have experienced average service at times. Overall, La Merenda remains a gem, offering a nice variety of locally sourced ethnic foods served tapas style, with many dishes receiving high praise. The well-paced and attentive service allows diners to savor their meals without feeling rushed, making it a good option before attending an event at the BMO Pavilion.
