Leon's has been on South 27th Street since 1942 and they remodeled in the early 1950s into the neon-lit, walk-up drive-in format that still exists today, meaning the building you're standing in front of has looked more or less like this since before most of your relatives were born. There's no dining room. You walk up to the window, you order, you eat in the parking lot or on the hood of your car, and on a warm Milwaukee evening you are surrounded by a full cross-section...
Went back here again because it is the best custard I have ever tasted. And it has been that way for the last 50 years that I can remember. It still is a little pricey, but it is worth it. Parking lot is still a mess. Every time I go there are some close calls with cars and people walking around.
The frozen custard here is simply AMAZING! So creamy and rich, it melts in your mouth. The variety of flavors is impressive, and the staff is super friendly. A must-visit for dessert lovers!
