Cafe Lulu never disappoints. Service from Joel great. Both sandwiches excellent, Moroccan chicken very juicy. My companion loved her flank steak banh mi. I always get the terrific Asian slaw which is bountiful and so welcome an alternative to fries. This batched needed a hint more vinegar. Reasonably priced wine list. Pies are made in house. Took a piece of rhubarb home, delightful. Cozy atmosphere.
We like having a late lunch at LULUs in connection with a program and so did this for all 4 Matisse lectures. However the menu is too small for us to keep coming, especially because we don't eat meat. Your price fixe seems to always have a meat entree, often pork. We think there should always be a veggie/fish alternative to the meat, and that your overall menu should be somewhat larger without needing to be huge. If these things happened, we would dine with you more often.
It was a rainy night so Lulu's patio was closed. We sat huddled with other diners in the roofed part of the restaurant, with the lanterns glowing and the patio heaters keeping out the chill. This lent an air of intimacy to our dining, as did the fact that we often ran into the same lovely diners and waitstaff every visit.
