A nice place to visit for seafood. Oysters were very good, but took a long time to get them(comped by manager), vegetables good but presentation could be improved. Catfish was great and plenty of it. Overall a good, but not great night.

Came for happy hour (4-6) for dollar oysters, dollar off drinks and fried green tomatoes. We had oysters, shrimp, fried tomatoes, the crab and corn chowder, gumbo, and the pulled pork sandwich. I might still be in a food coma. everything was exceptional. our bartender Sam was great! He helped me design two martinis I loved. definitely will be back!! i'd recommend coming as close to 4 as possible as it does fill up quickly!!

Sooo… Where do I start??? The server was really nice however; you can tell it was the end of her shift and customer service wasn’t a top priority. She did her best tho… considering the circumstances. The chicken nuggets were really really good and fresh. Had no complaints there. My wife ordered the NOLA grilled oysters she said they were salty. I thought they were simply ok. We waited well over 35 mins to get our food which wouldn’t have been a big deal if it all came out hot and ready. I ordered the 4pc Amish chicken that came with a biscuit (ice cold) mashed potatoes and gravy and greens( please please find a new recipe) my greens sat under the light too long and got dry and rubbery. The only thing that came out fresh and hot was the chicken. The chicken seemed like it bathed in sage for 2 weeks long. The sage was too overwhelming I couldn’t finish it. Gave the rest to the dog. When I complained about the biscuit the waitress pressured me to get a new one that was hot( even after I told her it was no trouble) she then came back with a plate offering to heat the old one up( big no no). I had Maxie’s before and thought it was okay so I wanted to try it once more , but I can honestly say if they don’t make some changes I’ll never eat here again. Most ppl like it, I just didn’t. Sry.

We came for happy hour & stayed for dinner. The happy hour specials were great, bartender was friendly and we ended up staying for dinner & got the beef cheeks & grits (not pictured). We will definitely be back!

$1 oyster happy hour is fantastic. I can’t wait to come back to do it again. Everything is generally expensive but that’s to be expected with a restaurant like this.

Maxie’s is one of our favorite happy hour or dinner spots. Drinks are top notch, oysters are as fresh as can be, food is authentic and homemade. I have yet to experience a host, bartender, or server who. Was not 100% friendly, happy, helpful, and fun! I cannot recommend this place enough! In fact, we usually take some extra gumbo to-go after dinner to enjoy for lunch the next day!

Be certain you don't get seated in the line to the bathroom! Although the food was good, we were seated at a table directly in line with the bathrooms. We had reservations, there were 4 of us, and there were other tables available which were not in line with the bathrooms. As we ordered our food, as we waited for our food, as we were served our food, and as we ate our food, there were people standing and waiting for the bathroom immediately behind and around us. There are only two bathrooms, and at one point there were 7 people snaked around our table. There were 4 people in the narrow area by our table as our food was served so the folks in line turned sideways to let our food through. There was nowhere for them to go. Again, there were several empty tables for four people away from the narrow passage to the two bathrooms. This was the first time at Maxie's for two of us, and the other couple had recommended Maxie's. They were embarrassed to have brought us to Maxie's. None of us will return. As I stated, the food was good, but not worth the "ambiance", service, or general disregard for people's well-being.

The food is phenomenal, the wait staff is extremely friendly, but the hostesses had an attitude problem. Since they do reservations, we had a 45 min wait for a table. I recommend avoiding interactions with the hostesses by just making a reservation.

Amazing experience in every way, could not have asked for a better dinner venue. The food, service and ambience we're far more than I could have hoped for. We are absolutely returning for another amazing experience and this time try to not to have too much corn bread so we don't fill up too fast to enjoy our entrees. lol!

I've been here multiple times. They have the best happy hour. Oysters are a dollar and they are amazing. Shrimp and grits was awesome as usual. Did try the pecan crusted trout and will definitely have that again!
