They canceled my orden when the restaurant still open just because I add a note with specific instructions for my rolls and they just don’t accept the order.

I ordered the Shumai and Gyoza, both of them were disgusting! Normally I give place a second try but I will definitely not go there again.

I have ordered here more than 10 times and it is always soooo fresh, fast, and friendly. It’s also priced on the low end compared to other sushi spots. I love that the sushi rolls are perfectly bite sized and the appetizers are all $5.

I'm not a huge sushi fan ,but I ordered from this restaurant on door dash on a whim.I purchased the chicago roll and the california hand roll and the both where amazing. I'm excited to dine in the resturant and try more menu options and drinks.

I love that Modern Maki at Zocalo is queer and POC owned and staffed. Everyone working here is so friendly! I love the Fuego Roll, and especially the Shrimp Udon, which they have after it starts getting chilly. It’ll warm your belly every time. Don’t forget to try their boba milk tea! Honeydew is my fav! ?

Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetable and tofu options!

An honest review is 4.5. The food and the environment was great but the one thing that ruined it for me was the sushi rice. It was just bland and cold which makes the sushi-buritto cold and soggy and doesn't compliment the other ingredients.

Best sushi in the Milwaukee area by far. While other restaurants are mascarading low quality fish as sashimi, Modern Maki is actually delivering. The flavors are fresh, consistent, and affordable!

PRICING WAS TOO EXPENSIVE, NOT MATCHING THE QUANTITY.MY SON AND I WERE TOLD THAT IF WE WEREN'T GOING TO ORDER WE'D HAVE TO LEAVE THE AREA, (OF THE HIBATCHI GRILLING!) RUDEWERE WE EVEN GREETED PROPERLY, BY THE WAITER! NO, MIND YOU WERE AFRICAN AMERICANS. THEN THEY HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE US A 16%TIP, TOTALING 9.89. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE TO DINE.!

Everything is always so good and fresh from Modern Maki at Zócalo food truck park. Shrimp udon soup is perfect on a cold day. Gyoza accompanies well with any dish!

The Good: Reasonably fresh sushi. Decent tasting. As a sushi fan, and someone who used to work in a sushi restaurant, it’s nothing special, but it is good enough. So you’re safe there. The Bad: Rude customer service. Has an attitude. Acts like they don’t want to be there.I came this Sunday afternoon to the Zocalo Food Truck Park. This was my first time visiting the park, and I was hoping to get a good first experience. I walked through the park and selected the sushi truck. It was not busy at all. I read the menu and ordered. The tone the customer service person took with me was “you’re inconveniencing me. Hurry up. I don’t even want to be dealing with you right now.” To clarify that was not what the person said, that was tone of voice. When I went to pay, they handed me the tablet, said “ you can leave a tip but you don’t have to“ at a volume that I could barely hear, while they were looking off to the side as if I did not exist. I went to complete my transaction on the tablet. I only pressed one button before they tried to rip it out of my hands. I had to snatch it back from them and say “I’m trying to leave a tip.” No sorry, no thank you, no nothing. The only reason why I tipped is I assume when I’m tipping at something like a food truck that the tips are divvied up among all the employees, and I don’t want to punish other people for this one person‘s awful, rude, and condescending attitude. As a trans person with a disability, when I go out into the world I don’t need any extra trouble. I don’t need someone talking down to me. My life is already hard enough. All I want to do is to get through my day with no drama, be civil to other people, and be treated civilly in return. These interactions stress me out, and so I left the food park in a hurry, blowing off a sweet man who tried to ask me about my Boston Terrier.I will never go back to this food park. One bad experience is enough for me. I will take my business elsewhere, thank you.

The shrimp shumai was especially nice.
