There are lots of picnic tables inside and outside, and gas fire pits on the patio in the Fall and Winter. Views of Lake Michigan are top notch as this spot is right on the water. The menu selection is pretty big for a Biergarten with sandwiches, flat bread, a variety of appetizers and drinks. They even have a gluten-free* crust for the flatbread. We did a few sandwiches and a flatbread and thought the food was pretty good. This place is really for the ambiance and drinks so probably won't be the best meal you've ever had but the food serves its purpose. Note - they have beer, seltzers and sangria. This is part of MKE County Parks so they don't have a permit for wine. We love South Shore and will continue to keep visiting! *Not sure about cross-contamination for gluten-free items. Recommended to call and ask if you have additional needs

tl:dr - I have always enjoyed the South Shore Terrace Kitchen + Beer Garden and everything it has to offer, then I realized I could rent the indoor space and it became even more of a valuable commodity! So my husband and I live dangerous close to the South Shore Terrace and beer garden. The place is amazing in the summer and it's location is something to shout about. People are buzzing around, walking by the lake, headed over to the small beach nearby and playing at the incredible playground in stone-throwing distance from the Terrace. The beer garden has an expansive menu of delicious brews and they also have a full menu for people ready to enjoy a lunch or dinner with their beverage. The perfect Saturday in my book is heading to the South Shore Farmer's Market (which is the open space directly in front of the Terrace) grabbing some fruits and veggies and then heading over to the Terrace for a beer to enjoy a beautiful day. The Terrace also has bags/boards and a giant "connect 4" type lawn games that helps to keep everyone entertained. Plenty of space inside of outdoor/walled space and a bunch of picnic tables right by the lake makes it easy to drive in a large crowd. (Let's be honest, if it's even mildly nice weather, Wisconsinites will be outside and trying to enjoy it!) I recently found out that you can rent out the bottom space (the indoor location right next to the front bar where you order your beer/food) through the Parks Department! It was very easy to do, but it does book up FAST. We had our twins' first birthday there and it went incredibly! You do select catering directly through the kitchen and the thing (as of today) that can be brought from offsite is a celebratory cake of some kind. The food is made by the same kitchen as the day-to-day and it is quality and tasty dishes. We did big apps so it was a veggie plates, cheese platters, meatballs, pretzel bites, and chips and salsa which our whole party enjoyed. The young kiddos that were invited had the ability to run in and out of the party and go utilize the playground and the inside was spacious enough to accommodate our group which had around 50-60 folks. Again, the ability to wander in and out the venue really gave it some extra flexibility. The top of the Terrace is (as you may know) rental able on the larger scale as people host weddings and other more formal events there. I would definitely rent out the space again as the staff was receptive and helpful and the service was quality!

When you go to a Events and they tell you it’s $12 all you can eat and there’s no food… there was literally two old ladies waiting where the meat was supposed to be for 15 minutes hoping something would come out. Whoever ran this event should be embarrassed.

Best beer garden in the area. Been to every beer garden and this place by far has the best selection of food and beers. Doesn't hurt you're on the water and have views of downtown Milwaukee. Not many shaded areas so if it's hit out bring a hat or something to cover you from the sun. Otherwise great spot to bring friends and family visiting.

I have been to the South Shore Terrace many times to visit the beer garden and hang out by the lake. Always a good time, and the drink selection is always changing and varied. I have also had the privilege of making photographs at South Shore Terrace with some of my wedding couples, and the place is beautiful. Inside and out, the venue is unique and has no shortage of super photogenic areas to explore. What a fun place for a relaxed party. You wouldn't necessarily think about a babies bd party at the mouth of a beer garden- but this was terrific. The space was relaxing, clean, and you could walk outside for air, take the kiddos to the play ground or just look at the lake. Really convenient and even those with dogs enjoyed. (The dogs stayed outside the facility). The appetizers chosen were enjoyed by all. Pretzel bites with beer cheese and sweet bbq meatballs, veggies, cheese, salsa, chips and more. All very good. Ice water and cups were available and of course the beer garden was open for purchase. There was a wedding shower taking place upstairs. They seemed to be all smiles too. This was really nice. The only thing I could suggest is that it would be nice to have ceiling fans to move the air around in the indoor area And parking is challenging as everyone wants to be down at the South Shore Terrace. So, if elderly are coming, it'll be a bit of a walk -- so have someone drop them off.

Only in Milwaukee Wisconsin (I think) does the county provide multiple beer gardens as part of its park system! Well, we tried one of them, South Shore Terrace Beer Garden and loved it ! Great selection of beers and food and park setting over looking Lake Michigan. What else could you want ? Service was very friendly and the crowd was having a great time as did our small part of that crowd

They had the fence where you walked in to get drinks. Folded it up and bikes were parked in it so we all walked around and then the lady yelled at us saying we have to go in line on the other side I stated we couldn't because of the bikes and fence blocking the entrance. Then she yelled again at stating me to move it. The bikes were not mine. Also, the Flys were so bad.
