Absolutely amazing location, building, food, owner, drink and experience. How did I not know of this place? Its a masterpiece and if you are ever lucky enough to be invited to an event here do not miss it.

Chef David and all of his staff are so exceptionally talented. There is no better venue for a beautiful dinner with exceptional service.

Coming from a foodie town of Chicago and also chasing delicious bites, I was so so so impressed with the dinner party I attended this weekend. We were invited to a surprise birthday party for a dear friend, and I did not know what to expect of this “restaurant.” I leave the word restaurant in quotations because it was much more than that. It was an intimate dinner party EXPERIENCE where the staff blended in the background and it felt like our group were the only ones there. Everyone had a hand in the experience, from the bartender to the servers to the chef. They were unobtrusive, funny, helpful, and generous. We were in the upstairs room and there was plenty of space to mingle and move around. What I love, as a self professed window shopper, is how much stuff there is to look at. I am seriously jealous of Chef David’s eclectic collection of goods. I can get lost in all his secret rooms passageways and antiques. I could easily spend hours looking at everything in his office alone just like I would at Target or Hobby Lobby lol. I would give 6/5 if I could for experience.Food was amazing, curated and discussed beforehand, per our friend who hosted this party. He planned everything out with the chef, having some choice in it, but not all. Regardless, all courses were amazing and plentiful. You do not leave hungry. The crème brûlée was my FAVORITE PART. Oh, and the 4 wine pairings were good too :)Parking was easy. If you’re able to find street parking, there is plenty of that surrounding that location. Otherwise, there is a parking lot adjacent to the building. Not only that, I find it special when the chef comes out to show their gratitude and socialize with the guests. Chef David was gregarious and hung out with us as we meandered room to room. You can tell he takes great pride in what he’s created with his incredible team. The stories behind each artifact to why he chose what dishes to make, it kept me entertained for hours.

I guess I am just sad. My friends and I planned a RARE expensive adult night out - a fancy night. We got all dressed up, sitters for the kids, and headed out to what I hoped would be an amazing night. The food was great (minus the dessert) but our seating arrangement was beyond disappointing. They seated our party of 8 under the stairs in the basement next the grease catch. All night we heard people tromping and dropping things above us. The servers couldn't even reach half the attendees to serve them their food. It was dusty and drab. I was so sad for my friends. It was like being in a frat basement. At the end of the night our server told showed us a gorgeous speakeasy room and told us "this is the room you were supposed to be in".I guess someone better came along. We won't be back.If you book - clarify where you will be sitting.

Very entertaining presentation. Super friendly.

Group tour. The chef is very ambitious as he told us how he bought the building and restored it. He showed us how to use and select knives and cutting board do's and what not to do with it. Demonstration on making a Holiday Raspberry Cranberry Jam. Tour of building and a tasty selection of goodies.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Chefs Table and the staff was amazing. The planning process was smooth and enjoyable. The staff went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. From the walk through to see the space, to the special sit down with the Chef to curate a meal based on our food preferences we loved our experience. We highly recommend renting out the lower level for your guests to explore even more and get a richer experience with the unique touches the Chef put into that building!Chef David we felt the love made in our food especially the Beef Bourguignon and hope so many more guests get to experience the same.

Went there for retirement party Friday and everything first class. Chef even gave us a private tour of the unique rooms in this building. Highly recommended!!

Wow what a gem of a restaurant! When you walk in you're greeted by a beautifully created dining area. The more you look the more wonderful eye catching creations you'll find. The owner has done a wonderful job creating a vibrant dining room full of treasures. Each course we had was better than the last. I was a part of a group, so didn't have the pleasure of choosing the menu. However, the chef put his best foot forward and created wonderful dishes and provided exceptionally paired wines for each course. After dinner we adjourned to the basement to find a wonderland of various themed rooms. I won't spoil the fun, just insist you make your way to the basement!!!

We had the best time here for a celebratory girl's dinner at the end of residency! I think we were lucky to have a night with relatively few groups so we had the chance to experience multiple spaces. Immediately on walking in, we got to go behind the bookcase down to the speakeasy for a cocktail before our dinner. Alana, the bartender, was excellent and had great recommendations for our drinks which were all amazing. After our drinks, we were shown into the soda shop, where we had a beautiful charcuterie tray ready. We never felt rushed to sit down for dinner, and the entire staff made us feel very welcomed. The Chef de Cuisine introduced every course along with the sommelier introducing wine pairings and everything was beautifully choreographed.Course 1: Asparagus soup - beautiful, creamy, and paired with a lovely brut wine. I thought it was maybe a bit heavy for summer but the flavors were delicious.Course 2: salad with hydroponic greens, heirloom tomatoes, and feta cheese - fresh and light with a delicious vinaigrette, paired with a Sauvignon BlancCourse 3: shrimp with forbidden rice and a mole sauce, paired with a Pinot noir. This was probably my favorite dish! Lots of complex, unexpected flavors that melded together beautifully.Course 4: duck a'l'orange with Chardonnay. We were all getting a bit full at this point but the duck was so tender with a lovely light sauce, and the chardonnay balanced it beautifully. This was probably one of my favorite duck meals I've ever had.Course 5: strawberry rhubarb tart with lavender ice cream and crystallized ginger. I liked this but wasn't blown away - the rhubarb was a bit crunchy for me but I was also SO full at this point. At the end of our meal, the staff was so kind to offer to take some group photos and let us explore the wine cellar where a different couple had already had their meal. For a dinner in a basement, we were all blown away by the quality of service and decor - this is absolutely a meal to make you feel special and give you a chance to talk and connect with the people you're with. I cannot recommend this experience enough!

Incredible experience and will definitely be back! If you love great food, drink, and history this is the place for you. The owner is one of the best hosts I’ve seen and truly has a passion for his restaurant!

I planned my proposal here and everything that could’ve gone wrong did. From an employee propositioning me (in front of my partner) during the pre-meal charcuterie, to the meal that was preplanned including many ingredients specifically asked to be excluded and making my partner sick, to the ring being placed incorrectly (completely visible) and the music including many commercial breaks. I called to let the event planner know and she denied any of it being their fault (except for the mushrooms in the drinks???- bc why are there mushrooms in a drink). Despite all that the food also was not very good. The event planner did offer to bring us champagne to apologize and wave our cleaning fee (despite thanking me earlier for leaving the reusable decorations and waving our uncorking fee because I offered to let them keep them)… simply go somewhere else.
