Awesome place if it's your type of vibe. If you want lively, loud, and adventurous then Packing House is not the spot for you. They deliver a solid, all around white linen experience everytime and a consistent value that won't disappoint.

If you want casual, but elegant ambiance, attentive staff and outstanding food -visit The Packing House. I've been coming here for decades, and they never disappoint! Always first-rate! For the first time in my life, I ordered Beef Wellington. It's a filet mignon, wrapped in a baked dough, giving it a bread-like crust. There are mushroom & garlic added in for flavor. It was delicious, especially with the Cognac sauce. Mmmmm!
My wife had the 8 oz Filet, with shredded onion rings and mashed potatoes. Everything was great. We'll be back.

It was my first time & it was PACKED!
I sat at the bar, no I don't drink, & put my order of a specific fish fry, lots of lemon slices! There were 3 bar waitresses & it was almost magic how all 3 waited on me! EXCELLENT SERVICE! THANK YOU LADIES & CHEF who got my to go order right! Lots of food, very good food!
They also have a drive-thru but someone said the drive-thru only takes cash. I didn't want to take the chance of waiting in the line which was all the way on Layton!
EXCELLENT PLACE!

The Packing House absolutely delivered a top-tier dining experience from start to finish. The steak was a perfect 5/5, cooked medium rare just as ordered — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The Garlic Stuffed Filet stood out as a beautifully prepared, high-quality cut that showed real attention to detail.

To start, the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms hit the spot — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Fried Eggplant was another pleasant surprise, crispy on the outside with a tender, savory interior.

And of course, no meal here would be complete without their Old Fashioned, which was mixed to perfection — smooth, balanced, and exactly what you’d expect from a true Wisconsin supper club classic.

From the food to the cocktails and cozy, nostalgic atmosphere, The Packing House proves why it’s a Milwaukee favorite. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates great steak and timeless supper club charm.

Opted a fairly late night last minute reservations and were not disappointed. It is a bit pricier but we splurged on a meal we do not get often. The crab eas good and loved they had it split open for you.

We visited The Packing House with a larger party and, while the waitstaff was fantastic (truly no complaints there), the food left a lot to be desired.

Appetizers: We tried the eggplant, which some did find enjoyable, others not so much.

Soup: The French Onion soup came highly recommended. The first bite or two was promising, but after that the flavor cleared way to salt and something I could not identify. Most of our table did try to finish it, but again it was a divisive dish.

Steaks & Seafood:

- One person ordered crab legs, but they came out cold. To the waitress’s credit, she immediately rushed them back to be fixed. It did take 15-20 minutes to get a new order, the person sat there without anything for a while.

- Another ordered the filet mignon, which was shockingly small. The waitress kindly offered to bring a second or add another steak, but it was declined just due to having to wait for it (this should have been caught before coming out - at least I would think).

- Of the four ribeye's ordered, two were requested medium rare but came out rare, and one medium well that came out very well-done.

- The steak au poivre sauce was very unpleasant with a strange taste—it looked like gravy, but it just didn’t work. The person who ordered it managed to eat it but said they would never order it again and regretted it.

- Sides were also a miss. The rice was served cool (borderline cold), the fries were barely warm, and the onion strings—meant as a topping—were more like a full extra side dish no one wanted. The steak sauce was basically flavorless as well. I used my ketchup to flavor up my well done steak.

Dessert: Dessert itself was tasty, but there was a hiccup with timing. One person’s order didn’t come out until everyone else was finished.

In the end, we spent over $2,000 as a group, but most of us walked away saying we would not return in the future. The service was attentive and accommodating, but the food ranged from average to below average, which was incredibly disappointing for the price point.

I should add, again, the wait staff is amazing. We were checked in on often and asked how everything was. We are not ones to complain, so most of us ate what we could and just don't plan to return.

I do encourage others to try, perhaps we were there at a bad time or our party was too large to accommodate and they weren't used to it.
