Imagine if the show Cheers were set in modern day Milwaukee and, instead of being a basement sports bar, it was an above ground punkish dive. That's Veggas Pub, or friendly neighborhood corner bar. Friendly staff (as long as you don't cross them), great deals, welcoming atmosphere, community minded, and very dog friendly as long as your dog is friendly!
One of the best dive bars in the city, without a doubt. Definitely not everyone's flavor but if you're down with a healthy dose of degeneracy and a good crusty atmosphere you'll absolutely love it here. It certainly doesn't look like it on the surface, but this is the only bar in the city that I've never once felt unsafe in - everyone looks out for everyone else and anyone who decides to cause trouble is promptly handled.
loved this place when i visited Milwaukee last year. made a point to bring my friend there because we were in town tonight for a special trip, and the bartender (brown hair and beard guy) turned us away. he accused us of having fake ID’s which was 100% not true (i’m 26 and she’s 23, our ID’s are REAL) and he was just so rude for no reason as soon as we walked in. wish we could have enjoyed this bar tonight because i had a great time before that. probably won’t be back...
