Coming here is such a treat. A few pals and I have begun an annual girls trip to a friends cabin in Minocqua, and both years we've stopped here for a prolonged visit to journal, read, and sip away at their coffee. The way to describe this place would be "ultra-homey"-- the staff are all friendly and welcoming. I overheard one of the baristas chatting with a customer about being back from college, which added to the small town feel. They have a great selection of cards, photographs, and paintings from local artists. Both years, I've bought a beautiful card and written a letter to my grandmother on it. It's the kind of place that puts one in the mood to write letters to family. I'll be back next year.

just ok. food came out too greasy. it does not need to be slathered in oils from the grill. I used several napkins to dab the grease off. I needed like eight napkins.

We've been customers of Great Northern since their beginning. We were happy to come back again 2 days in a row after moving from the area. It's great to see Joy still going strong with their business. The staff was friendly. Drinks were great. We really appreciated how accommodating they were with gluten and dairy allergies. Thank you! Great place to visit for coffee and other treats. I only ordered a regular coffee the two times I visited. It was very good. My friend ordered a latte and the service is a bit slow. We were cool with it as we weren't in any hurry, but probably something you should know and be prepared for. The place is cute. We didn't have food, so can't comment on that, but I will definitely visit again if in Minocqua.
