When my wife and I travel through Central Wisconsin, and have the time ,we avoid the Interstate and take the local state highways. That usually brings us to New Glarus. Being the "off season", the usual Swiss restaurants were not open early in the week. I had read about Puempedl's Tavern so we gave it a try. We weren't disappointed. The atmosphere is great. We visited New Glarus, WI, AKA Little Switzerland. After enjoying walking around the shops we stopped in Puempel's Olde Tavern for lunch. I had the bratwurst sandwich with chips which was very tasty. At the table there was a choice of 3 different mustards to choose from to put on my brat.
My husband chose the broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl. The others had the Italian Beef sandwich which they all said was great.

The sandwiches are really tasty, and go well with the beers on tap. It's so nice to see so many locals supporting Puempel's. Between the food, friendliness and the vintage decor, it's a great place to stop for lunch, whether it's for the weekend or just for the day.🙂🍻
