This place was highly recommended and we felt it was overrated. Disclaimer - we did not order food because the grill was down for some reason. The drip coffee was great, but the oat milk latte was full of icky oil fillers. Table was sticky. And it was cold in there

A super cute and cozy go-to spot for coffee drinks, working, or meeting! Great location and just the right amount of ambient noise. Anodyne coffee is great by itself or in specialty drinks ??

One of the best!I really do love this place. When I first passed through Oconomowoc 3 years ago by happen chance, I stopped by Roots for lunch. The experience of seeing City Beach, eating lunch at Roots, and driving through downtown Oconomowoc was enough for me to pack up and move here 4 months later from an hour away.I think they have the best coffee/Lattes in town.Their food quality/service has always been top notch. The interior is cozy and contemporary, Intimate and relaxing. This has been a repeat business I have spent $100s of dollars with in the last 3 years. I love it.I just wanted to say that it is absolutely crazy that the breakfast burrito I ate today was 1/3 filled with corn. Not even fresh corn. FROZEN CORN! I’m still shocked. The texture and taste of frozen corn is beyond recognizable and barely palatable on a plate with butter let alone wrapped up and reheated in a breakfast burrito. Ya’ll need to remove the corn and replace with potato and even bell peppers (both can be frozen and reheated) - using frozen corn in a breakfast meal as an ingredient is crazy. The other thing was I had a hard time reading the menu today with the baby blue background and fine font. I overheard the elderly couple behind me discussing the same thing.I love Roots and will continue to patronize this business - but please guys tweak that burrito a little bit ???

Warm and welcoming family-owned business and our own family's main coffee stop whenever we are in the Lake Country area. The Chai Latte is our go-to!

First time customers, friendly staff and the atmosphere was very calming and welcoming. Food was good. Got the breakfast panini. Carmel Macchiato was so smoothe and just the perfect temperature. We will be back!

Nice little cafe in a good location but employment and training practices are very poor, management is unprofessional and disconnected from owners. Employees are not treated well, it's a toxic work environment. It's a shame because there's a nice little niche they have here but what you see on the surface isn't what is really happening behind closed doors, unfortunately. This business has lost my respect and trust and we will not be frequenting it any longer. A small business in a small, local community relies on customers and employees for sustainability and if any of those are out of step, reputation issues begin. We've seen these examples directly and indirectly through other community members and wanted to share the concerns as it's definitely becoming pervasive. Would rather support businesses that promote small town values.

Nice place to meet and enjoy the coffee with a friend. Only complaint is the service. They appear busy, so I understand the wait, but please acknowledge me and tell me you will be with me in a second. The silence, three customers in front of me, and no eye contact put me off at first. They did take care of me and brought my drink to the table with with a smile. Thank you for for the nice time.

Long lines usually mean the place has great coffee and/or food. I guess I expected more by all of the 5 star reviews & the long line. The pretzel was average, the lemonade & coffee were below average. The staff was nice. A hard pass when we're back in town again.

We can't meet at this place nor are we able to work here. The music is loud bad pop music. It is unbelievable that a cafe would play music this bad and this loud. When I worked in a cafe, and when you go to Starbucks, it is always soft indie type music. Now I know why all of my book club refuses to meet a roots, which happens to be a prime spot in Oconomowoc. I recommend for Stone Creek or Starbucks if you're looking to meet with someone and actually have a conversation.

I enjoy coming to Roots to meet with friends or to do work! It's quiet enough to focus on what I need to do but not so quiet that I feel awkward if I want to have a conversation (or I've even had a meeting here before and it worked perfectly). Their seating is comfortable and cozy. I haven't eaten much of their food, but I get their coffee more regularly. I thought their cold brew was far to bitter but their lattes and other espresso based drinks are delicious.

Super cute place! We sat outside as it was a lovely day, but plenty of seating inside as well. Food was very good. Love the names of their options!

Enjoying some caffeine-free hibiscus tea, which was recommended to me by Alisha and prepared by Becca.
