We've been in a handful of times since the new ownership (we frequented Sue's) and since I'm pregnant, the only thing that sounded good at that moment was the grilled cheese sandwich. They describe it as 3 different cheeses (including a pepperjack) as well as a tomato. We all said, 'ooo that does sound like a good grilled cheese'. The new owner herself made the food. Since you can see the 'kitchen' area behind the bar, we saw her cooking the food, hair down and all. I've worked in the service industry for years and even as a server, we were ALWAYS required to have our hair pulled back. As a cook, I've only ever seen the staff required to wear hair back with a hat or in a hair net even. It's not rocket science, the FDA specifically mandates food handlers in restaurants to wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, beard restraints, and clothing that covers body hair, that are designed and worn to effectively keep their hair from contacting exposed food.
Our food comes, it was the most plain jane, one piece of cheddar cheese grilled cheese, and nothing else to it. If the owner herself doesn't even make the food to follow the menu, why would her staff? We've seen/talked to this owner a handful of times and we've never once gotten a single smile or even seen her greet anyone with a smile and that is why I don't feel bad giving this review even though I love supporting local and small businesses. She has terrible customer service skills.
Also, the bloodies literally were just Jack Daniels Dill Pickle mix mixed with vodka. No olives or pickles or anything, no mixing with clamato to lighten the very strong dill taste, nothing. Another table next to us that left soon after we got there had multiple 3/4 full bloodies still sitting at their table that they didn't finish. I can make 100x better bloodies and grilled cheeses at home. We'll take our business elsewhere - it's a shame because we loved Sue's!
