Food was average at best salmon was dry no real flavor scallops were cold and blah the steak was actually really good aside from that I was served gross tasting water I was gave a plastic condiment cup with tarter sauce with my salmon potato was hard and tasted very old and dry as well as the slaw wasn't edible. So all around i would have to say for the price of that meal I definitely will not return here. Waste of a lot of money!

We celebrated a birthday with friends and she chose Butler Inn for her special meal. Our 5:30 reservation found the place empty but not for long. The Saganaki was tasty as an appetizer but I thought it was a bit high priced although it was a large serving for 3. Our steaks and Ribeye were cooked perfectly and the unusual choice of hash browns was also a good option. Every dish came with crispy onions, soup or salad and side dish choice also. A slice of cheesecake for dessert ended a good meal on a high note. It seemed that there was one server and one busser so when it got busy they were hard to call over, but seemed to get the job done in the end.
We were told about the 3.5% credit card fee added to the bill so I suggest you pay with cash since the bill is not small so the fee isn’t either. With tax and tip we hit $300 for three women.
Although the evening was warm they have closed off the outdoor seating for the season. Too bad as it seems a bit early for that. But the inside atmosphere is nice and worth a visit.
Plenty of free parking and an inside lift with weight limitations check ahead if you need accessibility.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a Lift but it has weight limitations so check for accessibility before you come. Otherwise there are stairs both into the restaurant and inside to the dining room

Great ribeye for $54.

And the bourbon infused dessert was incredible.

And the menu had the largest font I’ve ever seen— perfect for old folks.

This is exactly the kind of restaurant I love. Of course, the food was excellent. But it was the superb service by kind and knowledgeable staff that really sets this place apart. Our server paid special attention to one of us with a special diet request. And also to the one child in our group. This is an old-fashioned supper club with updated amenities. Lovely views from the large windows in the dining room. And an inviting bar area with plenty of room to enjoy cocktails before dinner. One of us ordered a Brandy Alexander for dessert, and it was HUGE! Fun to share with family. We'll be back soon!

Dietary restrictions: My husband needs to follow a strict Celiac gluten-free diet. Wait staff and chef were knowledgeable and ready to answer questions and provide a meal carefully prepared to meet our needs.

Parking: Parking is easy and onsite.

I cannot praise the service, and dining experience enough. This is my go to when in lake country. The filet steaks are second to none. Grasshoppers take your breath away and freeze your brain. A++++

Rachel is beyond amazing!! We had drinks at the bar but then decided to also dine at the bar vs a table. Rachel was so accommodating and helpful and so kind. We will go back just for Rachel. Service like this almost doesn’t exist anymore. She’s that good. Thank you Rachel! You’re the best.

The food and drinks were also outstanding.

Thank you for replying to every review except mine?$50 burger after delivery fees and tip. Seemingly Frozen patty ciabatta bun. +$10 for cheese bacon and uncooked onion…….. this is not a gourmet burger. Should have got a fast food burger .

My Wife and I will travel a bit to eat here with friends two or three times a year. Never a bad experience...until last night. The perch was pedestrian, salad somewhat lifeless and the atmosphere was dull. The wait staff was kinda salty. The bartender didn't engage with us when we asked about a drink she was making, one of their specialties.....almost annoyed that we asked. Our Waitress was solid, but she too made us feel like we were a chore. Probably not going back, not with that weak a value propostion.

Birthday dinner for my wife: seemed to be a nice place with a good feel to it. The wait staff was Awesome! The food on the other hand, was awful!!! Let's start with the breaded rubber bands they call calamari over cooked. The Hay Stack was good. The French Onion Soup was Lipton Onion soup mix with a slice of bread and cheese. Now, for the main course, the African lobster tail and the loaded baked potatoes were great. The New York strip steaks we had were tough and flavorless, at best choice grade with no seasoning. My wife ordered hers medium well and came out medium. So it was sent back and then came back out medium. Needles to say we just had it boxed up for our pups at home.

We went here for our 41st wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful decision (our first time here). Being a Tuesday, it wasn’t crazy crowded, but it did fill up pretty quickly, which only confirmed that this is a great place to eat. Our server, Leah, was a gem. She was super friendly, attentive, and ready to share tips/tricks regarding menu choices. We wanted to try the haystack onion rings as an appetizer, and she told us that we would each be getting a generous portion of those with our steaks, so we might want to choose a different appetizer. We chose mozzarella sticks instead (wonton wrapped and very tasty). Later, when she was delivering an appetizer order of haystacks to another table, she stopped by and said “this is what you would have gotten”. We cracked up laughing; it was a dinner plate stacked at least a foot high with haystack onion rings. No way just the two of us seniors could have dealt with that.I had read other Google reviews of this establishment, and a few folks complained about the dinner salad not having a whole lot of variety. Well, I asked Leah what all is in the salad, and she explained it was mixed greens, tomatoes, onion, and cucumber. I asked her if they had any croutons and she said “sure!” So, I would suggest you speak with your server and see if there are unmentioned options. (The tomatoes are the little grape variety, which I’m not crazy about – I prefer chopped regular tomato.) Same with my husband’s steak – I ordered the Louie’s 5 Star Filet, which comes with garlic herb butter on top. My husband’s ribeye didn’t offer that option on the menu, but he asked if he could get that same butter and Leah was happy to oblige. My salad was delicious, and my husband got the French onion soup which he said was outstanding. The cocktails were very reasonably priced ($6 for an old fashioned, which was made just the way I like it – not muddled) and very tasty. One thing I will do differently next time I eat here, which I hope is soon – I will ask for my haystack onion rings to be served on a separate plate from my steak. Unfortunately they soaked up almost all of the juices from my filet. Despite that, my filet was phenomenal. I ordered the 16 oz. Louie’s 5 Star Filet, and it was amazing. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare) despite being an incredibly thick cut of meat, and I rarely encounter any restaurant that can do it correctly. There was no way I could eat 16 oz. of steak of course, but it made sense since the 16 oz. is only $10 more than the 9 oz. I took most of it home with me and I’m looking forward to reheating it for dinner tomorrow night. The best part was the mind-boggling Brandy Alexander ice cream drink we ordered for dessert. It was delicious, but HUGE! I swear four people could share it and be totally satisfied. We shouldn’t have tried to finish it just the two of us, but we were successful. This meant we left there happy but overstuffed LOL.Overall, we highly recommend Butler Inn of Pewaukee! Looking forward to going back with our daughter and son-in-law for my husband’s retirement celebration in August. (On that note, we have a 3 year old granddaughter, and we both agreed that this establishment is more geared towards adult dining – there is no kid’s menu and there were no children there the night we visited.) Another thing I should mention is that when I made the reservations using the online system they have, it asked if it was a special occasion or anything, and I mentioned that it was our 41st anniversary. When we arrived, I noticed that the handwritten book on the hostess’s desk also had a note about that. Nobody said anything or did anything special for us though. No big deal I guess, but I am curious why they ask about that sort of thing if they aren’t going to help you celebrate.I just remembered another small detail - we were served a nice loaf of warm bread, but the butter pats were ice cold. I would suggest to the staff that they take the butter out of the fridge well in advance of dinnertime.
