The NOT SO GOOD:The place is so dark. Black walls, black curtains, black tables, etc. Oh, except for the sun coming through unfiltered top windows. Customers had to move 3 different times.Little, to no atmosphere whatsoever.Looked kind of dirty. No decor on the walls.Mismatched lighting.Flies bothering many patrons while they were trying to eat.Bartender? He sure made it clear of his "self importance." Yeah, we get it...you know how to put two cups together and shake a martini.Actually, it was quite comical. The GOOD:SERVICE. Our waitress was AMAZING.I'm not for sure, but I believe she was the only server they had.She ran her tush off.Sweet, cute, very friendly young woman.Very good at her job.The FOOD:It was just...MEH.Took so long to get.Spouse ordered: The "Southern Smoke" (?)We laughed. When his plate arrived, it smelled like it had just smoked a while carton of cigarettes. However, he ate it. We both agreed that we've had better pasta from a "frozen meal." Yikes.I asked, "Would you ever order it again?"Simple answer: NOI ordered: The Blueberry Pork Loin (?)The pork was exceptionally moist. The blueberry compote (?) left something to be desired. It was served with 2 steamed broccolini steams, and a side of some kind of potato mash that was unfortunately inedible. But hey, good call by the chef for using a "fancy decorating tip" while dispensing the mash through a pastry bag. (Seems old school to me)We did share a piece of the raspberry cheesecake, and that was SOOOO GOOD.So before leaving we gave the waitress a really good tip, and put our FINAL GRADING SYSTEM to work. We ask each other:"Are we ever going to come back here to eat again?"Final answer: NOSome may feel this was a harsh review. However, I've owned two businesses over the years (one being a restaurant) and I feel a business owner appreciates to know how the customers felt about their visit. This is how we make necessary adjustments for the overall experience.

Great place to grab a drink after work. I'm sure they could make a lot more money by staying open later for the college crowd, but that's not what they are about.

We had a great visit and the bartender told us about the history of the bar. Stopped in a couple times to visit while we were in town.

This is a top notch place with the friendliest of staff.

Great old bar!!! Learned a lot of Platteville history from the bartender. Recommend having a drink here, but bring cash. Register is from 1942 and doesn't take credit cards.

Love stopping in this bar. Its been owned and operated by the same family for over 100 years. There is so much history within these walls, and there is usually someone around to share a great story from the past
