I’ve eaten at many A&W restaurants across the country but this one in Portage is the best ! I first visited this restaurant in the 70’s as a kid and still make it here every summer as many times as I can !!

Delicious deluxe Cheeseburger and a root beer! Great lunch for starving traveler. Don’t like to eat in car but made exception for this mighty fine burger! The tomato slice was 5 stars by itself!.

This is a historic drive-in, park, and order from your car using the original two-way microphone and speaker menu board. A friendly "car hop" teenager (working mostly for tips) lugs out your meal on the old-fashioned tray and places it on your partially opened window, and takes your payment. You can eat at outside tables under the front overhang if you prefer. The food is good fast food you'd expect, but the old fashioned root beer drinks (in a real glass mug) is your main reason for going to A & W. I always get a root beer float. If you are tight on time, you can get everything to go if you want (no glass). We enjoy the old time experience that you rarely find anywhere else anymore.

Great food. But half of the order menus were out of order. Most of them had signs but the one we pulled up to didn't work so we moved and then within the time we were there 3 more people parked in that same spot.

Parking: Make sure your menu is actually working if you plan to order from vehicle/eat in vehicle.

Great food
Fast service
Clean restrooms
Above and beyond to make the dinner enjoyable. Not always easy as we are five people and sometimes they think we are done ordering halfway through. We had some special requests and they were easily accommodated. (Food allergies are a pain)
We lloved that it was a drive in so we could stay in our air conditioned comfortable car, and could place as many orders as we needed. Dinner, ice cream, then a gallon of take home rootbeer.

Dietary restrictions: I'm allergic to whey (dairy) and it was easy to get my food without it. Husband and daughter have celiac disease and getting thier good safe was also easy!

Parking: Park and eat

Kid-friendliness: Can sit at table with parents and of course cones and floats are a kids and adults thing.

Ordering is very clumsy. One staff worked half time showing people how to order. It's a noisy location and hard to hear the intercom.
