“Stopped at this place for some pizza on our way home. The service was impeccable. Our server, Bailey, was attentive but not cloying.
We had $4 Old Fashions (a Friday special) that were fantastic. They were so delicious that I had 2!
We did have an appetizer, mozerella sticks, which were served hot and prior to our meal with a chunky sauce that was good.
But, by far, the star of the show was the fresh bread and pizza! The bread was warm and crusty with just the proper amount of crunch. Paired with the olive oil it was delicious!
The pizza was amazing with a lightly charred crust that was light and airy with a perfect proportion of sauce to cheese.
We will definitely return!!!”

We couldn't have asked for better service. I even sent my complaints to the chef. We need one of these closer Clintonville. Definitely gonna go back there!!!”

“I love Riley’s! Favorite place to get a drink and have a good time since I’ve moved to Portage. But I was upset to find out that the price of Carbliss switched from $5 to $7, that’s almost a 50% increase in price. I understand other places in the big cities up charge for the price of drinks but I don’t understand a smaller Portage dive bar upping the price on a drink by $2. Otherwise I love seeing Jamie and Kenny when I come in but I wish there wasn’t a big price change with Carbliss, High Noon, and White Claw.”

“This is how my 3rd time eating here and it is truly some of the best food I have had. The mongolian beef melts in your mouth, the szechuan string beans are super flavorful. We also loved the fried dumplings and the teriyaki & honey chicken. So far everything we have tried has been amazing and we will definitely be back soon.”

After ordering our food, it took no time at all before we started enjoying our meals. We ordered a veggie chimichanga (no dairy) and chorizo polli. Reasonable prices.

“Big Dog Saloon is a fantastic little neighborhood bar in Portage that’s full of character. From the moment you walk in, you can appreciate the classic tavern atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful old back bar and the real wood bar top—they give the place an authentic, old-school feel that’s getting harder to find these days.

The beer was served ice cold, exactly how it should be, and the service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a drink, relax, and enjoy good conversation in a comfortable atmosphere.

Sometimes the best bars aren’t the biggest or the fanciest—they’re the ones with great people, cold drinks, and plenty of personality. Big Dog Saloon checks all those boxes. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy a beer with excellent service and a classic Wisconsin tavern vibe, this is definitely a place worth stopping by. “I was in this past Saturday evening to get some food togo. It was busy with just 2 cooks and 1 server. Amanda, the server, did absolutely amazing with handling all the food and beverage orders at all of the tables as well as the bar. Not to mention she was also helping the two newer cooks. Food was great. Huge compliment to Amanda!!”

They do a good job keeping this place clean. And in today’s work that is very important. Some places are just gross. They place is always clean and welcoming. Like I said food comes up hot and fresh. I always stop at this store when I am heading home to see family about an hour away from Baraboo. Great place. Excellent menu. Highly Recomended. .”
