I was in this past Saturday evening to get some food togo. It was busy with just 2 cooks and 1 server. Amanda, the server, did absolutely amazing with handling all the food and beverage orders at all of the tables as well as the bar. Not to mention she was also helping the two newer cooks. Food was great. Huge compliment to Amanda!!

1873 Bar & Grill is an absolute gem in Portage, known for great food and even better service. The staff is very friendly, pleasant, and helpful, ensuring drinks are topped off and guests want for nothing. The food is the true star, with the Reuben Burger being excellent and the Cubano sandwich perfect, featuring honey mustard that is not too sweet or too mustardy. The Chicken Marmalade is amazing, and the homemade chips are great. Other highlights include fried pickles with very good jalapeño ranch, stuffed mushrooms, and fish that looked like giant fish sticks but was amazing, with homemade coleslaw, beans, and tarter sauce. Portion sizes are great. A Whiskey Old Fashioned Sour with olives and an orange slice is perfect. Service is outstanding, with one staff member noted for treating a party like royalty. The kitchen accommodates late orders, and takeout is hot and ready. With deals like spotted cow two for one, this is one of the best burger and sandwich spots for lunch or dinner.
