“Stopped in for lunch on our road trip. Great tenderloin sandwich and fries. Husband ordered a coffee. It came in a black cup and was literally just hot water. Not sure if the coffee machine was working correctly or if the waitress didn’t know how to use it? Other than that, our food was good, service was great!“
“Looks like a great place. I wanted to eat here but I needed to charge my phone for a work call. I'm backpacking Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail and needed to be able to do some work while I ate so I had to go across the street but the helpfulness and atmosphere were exactly what I would have liked and I'm sure the food would have matched it.“

“Walked in today place was packed, waited to get a lane for 5 people and was only 20 mins. Had friendly service and tried a pizza, was the best pizza I have had in a long time! I thought it’s a bowling alley pizza but no it is probably one of the best pizzas in the area! Very impressed. Heard a few customers compliment the kitchen on the burgers too. Next time we will try one of those. Staff was great and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Haven’t been there in years and can’t wait to come back! Warning ⚠️..They still use human calculators, not machines- so check the addition. If you show up when they open at 4pm (coming early means standing out in the cold), be prepared to be just another face in a large crowd. After observing guests enthusiastically enter, service staff with dreary "they're heeere!" frowns are obviously rushed to serve the masses and have little time to engage with the customers. All that said, our server was very personable and performed her job hurriedly with a smile. The hostesses deserve a special recognition for managing the wave of humanity after the doors open.“
“We had the Friday fish fry - I had the perch and a baked potato and my husband had the cod with fries. It was all delicious! The fries were hand cut and so good. The fish was perfect. We were impressed with the service and speed. We'll be back!“

“What a great tiny local diner. Stopped with our friends on Sunday morning and the place was packed with locals. The service was great and they were walking around with free fresh fried donuts while waiting. Food was fantastic. This is not a big fancy place but it is exactly what I want from an old local diner.“
“My husband and I were told this bar was a great place to have dinner and drinks. I will say we were not disappointed. Bar staff was very friendly, we never had to wait for a drink and the bar was well occupied. Food was good. I ordered a bacon blue cheese burger, yum! Bun was nice and soft but toasted on the inside. We ordered homemade potato chips one order spicy one one order parmesan. They were a little salty, between the two of them I preferred the Parmesan. Overall a great experience. Rip the bartenders well they are great!“
“WOW! Such a surprise in a small town. Stuffed green pepper soup was so yummy, as was my BLT on sourdough and my husband’s tuna salad sandwich. Our server clearly took pride in her work-so friendly and kind. If you find yourself on the road near Portage, it’s worth a stop for certain and be sure to ask for Heather ?“
“If ever in Portage Wisconsin and hungry this is the place to go and have a great meal with awesome service.In the late '90s our daughter after her moving to Madison and I started meeting there for lunch.Later my brother moved back to Wisconsin and we had many trips back and forth to the VA hospital in Madison for him. He also had a stop always on the way back.He is no longer with us and neither is my husband yet same thing with him always had to stop to eat there.Now 20 some years later and had been a while but met my daughter again for a nice meal.Nothing has changed except he did have a fire that had to remodel a bit but the service along with the food was just as outstanding as ever.Anyone I know going from Northern Wisconsin south I always mention you want some good food to stop at Dino's in Portage Wisconsin.Being there last week brought back memories also and I'm thankful to have added a new one.“

“My sister came to town and we wanted to do dinner with my mom and aunt. Red Apple is my aunts favorite place! The service was amazing and super friendly.The menu is pretty typical family restaurant items. A range of breakfast to traditional dinners. Portions of the dinners were large. 2 people in our party ordered the chicken alfredo and 3 of us ordered burgers/sandwhich items and none of us were able to clear our plate. They do serve breakfast all day!My only complaint was the water tasted gross. So I suggest ordering a soda or juice. (A small disclaimer, I only drink filtered water.)I was very impressed by the staff and their friendliness and attentiveness to all the tables.“

“Very good food and a great view of the lake from the deck! I think they have the best pizza and the Reuben was prolly the best one I've ever had. They could do a better job of keeping things tidy (our plastic table was broken so I had to be careful to not bump up against it or it could have torn my shirt) but overall a very nice experience.“
