The food was great but the staff was horrible! Very rude and inattentive even though we sat at the bar! The bar tender messed up our order and when we tried to point it our to her she became argumentative so we just said forget it. I believe it was the owner behind the bar and that makes it even worse if the actual owner doesn't care about service! Don't plan on going back! Word of mouth is you're best advertising and believe me I am telling anyone that will listen how bad the service is!

Stood in on a pontoon boat ride, and everything was good. Will stop again. Had the rack of ribs that were decent.

In past years, we've enjoyed a delicious, almost sweet breaded cod fish fry here. Something changed in 2024. This is the second time this summer that we came for breaded cod and they were out. Seriously?! We were there at 6:00pm Friday night. Instead, I ordered the breaded walleye, and my husband ordered the perch. My walleye was very thin, overcooked, and tasteless. My husband ordered perch, but it wasn't perch. It wasn't shaped like perch, it didn't taste like perch, we paid for perch, but got something else, it was overcooked and very dry. It was also a small portion, 3 fillets, more like a child's portion. The baked potato and coleslaw were good.

This is the second time this summer our food was brought to the table, and we didn't have any silverware. We waited several minutes, while our food was getting cold, waiting for silverware. At the time I placed the order I asked for extra sour cream and melted butter. The server forgot both.

We chose to sit outside to enjoy the view of the Wisconsin River. The glass table was very dirty. It surely hadn't been washed in at least a couple of days. I used a few paper napkins to wipe down our table top, and the napkins were black with dirt. Yes, the tables are outside and will get pollen, etc. on them, but this table hadn't been cleaned in days. Shouldn't it at least be wiped down when they open for the day and between guests? Another turn off to customers, is the outdoor paved area where the bar and about 5 tables are, is full of leaves, pine needles, etc. Again, I understand it was outdoor dining, but use a blower and clean the patio area where you're serving food before you open for the day. If you can't keep this area presentable where guests can see it, what is the kitchen and bar like?

Backwaters Bar and Grill you can do better! We will not be returning.

First time here and I was blown away! There was a fundraiser happening which made it even more fun! Our server “Mama Sauer” was amazing! Attentive, funny and on the ball! We went there with my husbands parents from out of town and the food was incredible! They even came back out to double check for a food allergy which was awesome! I’m a general manager of a restaurant in the area and I was impressed! We will definitely be back and can’t wait to know the staff well! Thanks for an amazing visit!

We were in the area for a few days and found this place. Food and service was good but slow. Absolutely no atmosphere or ambiance. We wanted to sit outside but there was no service. All in all it was fine,

We ate here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. My husband had the pulled pork over mac & cheese, and I had the 2 piece broasted chicken dinner which was very good. This is a lovely location with a dock that people can tie their boats up to in order to have a bite. We had a very relaxing meal. They do their receipts differently than any place I have seen before. Instead of listing each item with the price shown on the menu and then adding a separate line charge for the credit card fee, they add the credit card fee to the price of each item. At the bottom there is the amount due, and below that, the cash amount due.

Great food and beautiful views! A great spot for a relaxing lunch. I had the chicken Caesar wrap and loved it.

Restaurant was uncomfortable cold. Waited an hour for food finally took to go since couldn’t take the cold any longer. Food was not good. Only recommendation I can give you would be not going there.

Just seemed to charge a lot for not so good food. Ambiance not there either.
