The waitress told us how the town was founded
What a great story. My club sandwich was the best

Didn't really care for salad. Chopped onions and tomatoes were for tacos and didn't expect dressing packets. Lettuce was soft.

I had some time to kill between appointments and I saw a lot of cars here! That’s usually a good sign of good food! They have a huge menu with breakfast served all day and tons of other options plus daily specials. Service was friendly and fast, and the food was very good! I’d definitely stop here again when in the area!

I've been going to Family Restaurant since moving to Rhinelander and things have recently changed from really good to not good. The food was mediocre (maybe they have a new cook) but what was more troubling were the following:
1. The POS system automatically charges you more than what is on the menu. The bill says it's 4% for using a credit card. So what you see on the bill doesn't match the cost of what you see on the menu. Worse is that when they rang up the 'cash' price it still didn't didn't match the costs found on the menu. The person at the register couldn't figure it out. She said that it was probably the sales tax but it was well over 7%. She deleted one of the drinks but I am concerned that the restaurant is scamming patrons.
2. I was there with my 4-yr old granddaughter and she ordered pancakes, the wait staff - without asking the mom or me asked her if 'she wanted chocolate chips or blueberries etc on the pancakes - which is a $3 upcharge for a kid that only eats maybe 1/8 of the pancake. Of course the baby said she wanted chocolate chips and the waitress didn't even ask us if that was ok.
3. We ordered a mimosa and it tasted just like fruit juice - no fizz like you would expect. I assume they used an open bottle that had been sitting around or not properly sealed. It was no good.

Very disappointing - not sure if they have changed management or what but there are enough other places in town we'll spend our $ on breakfast and lunch.

I specifically asked if the burgers were truly chargrilled and the waitress looked me in the face and lied. Worst burger ever! I asked for med rare.....it was rare. I think cooked in the microwave.

Haven’t got a bad meal there yet. Service has always been very good. The wait staff has been prompt and professional with the family attitude. Go eat there and find out for yourself.

Great place for breakfast, especially if you'd like a mimosa along with it. Great service, great staff, great food.
